That isn't a bad idea, but the title wouldn't match. Noire (film noire) refers to films set in the 40s-50s. I am not saying a sequel set in the 80s is a bad idea, nor am I trying to be asinine and throwing your idea out based solely on the title. Such things COULD be worked around. It would just be inconsistent if an 80s sequel was called noire. HOWEVER, you could do something similar to that noire episode of the TV show Fringe. I think the episode was Brown Betty. In that episode, they had noire themed scenes (black and white, detective, overall tone of film noire, 40's style architecture clothes and cars, etc) but the characters were still using cell phones and other modern tech. It was really interesting. So that could be a way to mix the 80's with the noire theme

This game in my opinion feels like the most ambitious game ever made. It's got great actors and Team Bondi invested and made that motion scanning that no other developer has made. The story was amazing bringing a new style to play and different out comes of missions. They also created an absolutely huge map to the game which felt fun to drive around even if there are no activities to do but it's still fun. I think this game should have got a 9.5 or even 10 because no game could top this of that sort of genre/setting

Yassine Swarchendigger Ghost's was terrible in my opinion, the story was that South America invaded North America for no reason whatsoever, countries such as Argentina, Brazil have good relations with America and are known to dislike each other, the multiplayer had massive poorly designed maps and took the fun from run and gun (no rhyme intended) because it tried to be like Battlefield with a much lower health system than other COD's which adds to realism but COD is not about realism more about being a super soldier running around a small map for no reason.

Odd ending?? Have these people watched a noir movie before? They’re meant to be unsatisfying; the protagonist is suppose to suffer the consequences from his shady dealings... Jesus IGN, wtf??

Hidayatur Rahman Definitely timeless classics, they entered unproven genres in a big way, and for me personally their uniqueness and originality is part of what makes them the greatest open world games of all time. Unforgettable experiences, nothing comes close to those games in terms of a role playing experience in an iconic era. I still play Red Dead too. :)

For the last couple hours you've been dealing with arson cases, with many dead, burnt bodies. The final suspect was a flamethrower handler. The big secret from the characters time in WWII is when they burned a civilian hospital. Veterans were having their American Dream literally go up in flames. In the last level of the game you're surrounded and ultimately killed by the thing that's supposed to save us from fire: water.

La.Noire and Mafia 2 are probably 2 of the most underrated games of all time! The technology and game mechanics of both games far over do any game even in 2019! The story of both are brilliant! Not to mention how perfect both games were set in the 1940’s

One of the most criminally underrated games ever. It's a shame we'll never see a game like this for a while, cause developers nowadays are more worried about DLC's rather than making a good game.

Playing the game in 2018. I can't believe I didn't play this before. The most interesting game I've ever played. It has everything from shooting, driving, close combat, and the facial expressions of the characters are amazingly done. Brilliant! 10/10

Some people didn't like the idea of Rockstar Games turning the tables where you are a cop and not a criminal.I for one to say love it,being a detective, solving crimes, interviews, and 1940's Los Angelo's was a huge touch in my opinion.L.A Noire is a great game!

Aditya Chakravarthy ya bro motion capture tech was amazingly implemented in this game. But graphics are not enough to give someone 9 . If ign will start doing this nfs payback will get 9.5.

Ign, you don't understand that the title is called LA Noire for a reason. They shaped this game for resemble film noir. Film noir isn't a genre of film, but more of a style. First off, most film noir will be set in urban environments. Cities, hotels, bars, diners, police stations, etc. in just about every case in this game, we see ALL of these things. Film noir films have psychologically damaged protagonists with shoddy backstories. They typically are widowed, but if not, something usually causes a disturbance in the marriage. For instance, Cole gets accused of adultery, and loses his wife. The game also gives us a back story of cole's military career and all of the crazy stuff that went down in Japan. Cole is a total film noir protagonist. Film noir also has something called a femme fatale, or a woman who uses her looks and sexuality to get what she wants. She typically loves one person in secret, but has all kinds of crazy stuff going on under the table. The game is loaded with femme fatales. It's hard to get an accurate number. Play through the game and see how many you can spot. They're all there. Film noir also have very dark themed endings. It's never the way you suspect. For instance, double indemnity ends with the protagonist being compromised by his best friend. There's usually some really big shift of emotion at the end, and it's ALWAYS bitter-sweet. I won't spoil the ending for those who haven't played it, but the game has the most bitter-sweet ending since red dead redemption. The game masterfully took 40s culture, and stylized it. If you aren't happy with this ending because it's 'odd', but praise COD for its plot, you've definitely got a huge lack of taste in storytelling. Again, another shitty review by a shitty editorial.

Only 6 years ago the "motion scanning technology" was such a big deal for video games, now every single AAA game use that tech. It's amazing how tech grows so fast when it actually strats advancing, considering we had virtually not advancements in graphics until Doom came out.

It's noir. It's in the name. The endings for film noir never have the main protagonist reaching anything they wanted to achieve. So the ending is expected since LA Noire is also a salute to the film noir era.

For anyone disappointed with the ending like i was the first time around: play the game again, watch all cutscenes and newspaper articles without skipping. You'll notice things in the plot that will change the way you look at the ending and may find that cole phelps really isnt the great guy that the missions alone would have you believe.
