If The government really wanted to help the homeless problem they would build condos and sell them at cost at a minimum wage income. Treat it like a regular loan but without any interest. Keeping it as far way from the idea of government housing and Free, people never respect Free. And the working people shouldn't be picking up the bill on other people. Also if people actually buy, and pay for something they will have pride and self-worth about themselves.
@Joellarainbow

@jesusorozco3788 I think that's a different problem. This will mostly help the people who want to help themselves. However usually when people feel like they have opinions that are attainable, they tend to change their life choices. The idea that with a few life choices you can own your own home. I think that will be a good motivator. They can learn to dream again and have goals. All things most drug-addicted people don't have.

Good morning,Autumn ! There's are very effective way your church can help homeless people- by attending City Council meetings in whatever city you live in, and advocating for affordable housing being created and promoting housing by those leaders who run that city. Because of stereotypes, they actually believe that homeless people don't deserve apartments they can afford,even non- criminals,like disabled people, veterans, seniors,who are the fastest growing demographic for becoming homeless,by the way ! @@susanbrown2909Absolutely !! Mayor Karen Bass supposedly is creating programs to get people housed in affordable apartments. She and City Hall must be forced to create the housing- with the BILLIONS of dollars the state and the feds gave THEM, without any audits or outside oversight !! Average citizens need to understand what is really going on. Most people don't know that the average rents,like a one bedroom apartment in Los Angeles County is $2,000 an month. Something to consider. See for yourselves the corruption in and of, the Homeless Industrial Complex !! 70 million dollars can create housing,instead of wasting taxpayer money on these Fascistic sweeps. I'm glad that Mark is exposing these atrocious incidents. Investment in affordable housing,is investment in society and the common good. The blight of homelessness,which is both a quality of life,and economic issue. Regular apartments stopped getting built by 1980, and the focus switched to commercial structures and luxury apartments/ condos. Also, a lot of the housing stock that existed was demolished. Meanwhile,the Pop has been growing, without competent plans to house all the new people arriving/ born, as in 1980, the population was 216 million. Now it's 340 million, nationally. But housing hasn't been built to keep up with growth of the population for 42 years. So Nat, there's very high rents, because of supply not meeting demand ! This situation is GREAT for real estate companies, investors and politicians,but it's HELL for everyone else who isn't wealthy. One way to help people currently homeless,is to attend City Council meetings, and demand that leaders in these meetings permit and create affordable housing, for seniors, disabled people, veterans and working class would- be renters,who are trapped in homelessness as a result of this permanent housing shortage ! If all the homeowners and business owners will do this ONE THING, we can turn this humanitarian crisis around. Ending homelessness is everyone's business ! And it's important to understand that there ARE different types of homeless citizens, mentally ill people,and predatory homeless people with criminal records,must be placed in different categories. They can't pay rent and utilities no matter how cheap, as they can't take care of themselves properly. But, everyone else,like seniors, disabled people,for example, are just like housed people. And simply can't afford market rate apartments !! I tell the police this fact all the time,if I encounter them confronting a homeless person. They make such good money,that they don't have empathy for people who can't afford to rent ! They don't even know what a average rents go for, because they're homeowners themselves. Few people can afford a place that costs $2,000 a month,if they have Social Security. This is why we need a massive building campaign throughout the country,and Los Angeles is a good place to start ! Anyone who has the time, please attend City Council meetings whenever possible,and tell them what I told you. City Councils can secretly block affordable housing,using loopholes,like withholding approval letters, which prevents developers from creating affordable housing. And there's many unused buildings sitting empty for years,that can be made into affordable housing. I want to also let people know, about this radio show that really encourages haters and persecution of homeless citizens, it's called " The John and Ken Show, on KFI 640 AM. On from 1pm to 4 pm. They are dead set against housing as a solution,and advocate for driving homeless people out of state,and into concentration camps ! They are very funny,and popular guys. They gave guests on the show almost daily,who share this philosophy, like former Sheriff Villanueva. He's running for office now, to replace clueless Janice Hahn as Supervisor. Both the hard Right and the hard Left exploit homeless people for their own benefit. If you Google profiting off the homeless, you'll see how shelters and agencies cash in on keeping people homeless indefinitely. Six- figure salaries for the executives of these organizations,like LAHSA, for example. L.A.Family Housing, Union Station,of Pasadena and Ascensia of Glendale. They all do it ! 2,000 homeless people are found dead in Los Angeles County alone ! And those bodies are just the ones discovered. What about those in the foothills,and desert ? Riverbank and washes? Stereotypes fuel hatred of homeless citizens,and believe me, it's open season on ALL homeless people !💀⚰️🇺🇲

The fix to homelessness in the US is to allow those on SSI and SSDI as well as State Disability and low income pensions to live outside the US. As is those on SSDI can for 6 months a year, those on SSI only 30 days. But the income they receive would spend like more than 3 times as much just across the border in Mexico. I know plenty of places outside the US where Room and Board is just $40 a month. US average monthly income is over $6500 a month. On Social Security Average of $1700 a month. SSDI Average of $951 a month and SSI Average of $630 a month you can't even afford rent and utilities. Nor can you rent with a bad credit rating. In other countries you are free from all that nonsense. Many other countries Average Monthly Income is $450 to $5660 a month and a person can live well on that. In Nicaragua Average Monthly Income is just $150 and you can get Room and Board for just $40 a month. Freedom and Opportunity in the US is a thing of the past and won't be returning. RV's are a money pit. Once 10 years old no one will rent to you. A bad mistake. I have lived outside the US over 10 years in Panama, Ecuador, Nicaragua, Costa Rica and travel to many other countries. Life is very good and affordable and even as a 32 Year US Army Veteran I have better health care and respect outside the US.

Well, the homeless community has a mix of terrified, innocent people who just can't afford market rate rents, and the predators among them, who do use drugs,or are alcoholic, and have criminal records. People tend to lump them into one group only. This is one reason why homeless people are mistreated, and harassed so MUCH. It's the troublemakers who litter, and make other problems and get the decent homeless population in heaps of trouble. I always tell homeless people, especially newly homeless, to get an affordable storage unit, sign up with a cheap gym membership,for daily showers, and keep their sites clean,even cleaning other's sites up while trying to get out of homelessness and into actual housing. Corrupt politicians have to be reigned in, they're destroying the country with their policies and procedures. Case in point, is the proposal for " interim housing in West Los Angeles, on Midvale. A collection of plastic hits, with no consideration for individual issues, and no supervision for convicts or mentally ill. The neighbors oppose this, it's poorly planned, demonizes all homeless people, and it will backfire as a result !! I was made homeless myself,over 10 years ago, scammed out of my apartment by a treacherous roommate. I couldn't afford the place by myself. So I became an urban stealth camper. I had my storage unit to store important things,and cleaned up every day.I didn't LOOK homeless. And I picked up after myself each morning, I never " hung out" at the area I slept in. Few ever saw me, because I was discreet. Which is what I advise homeless people to do. I'll always have that storage unit,even though I'm not homeless anymore. Living in the San Gabriel Valley, I've seen many cheap apartments simply bulldozed,and replaced with condos, townhomes. Or offices. And this has gone on, for 42 years. It's called Neoliberalism.

One of my Doctors has a small office on a back street where rent doubled- yes doubled- in one year and mow she is going to have to move if she can find a place. Most help is time-limited, permanent housing almost absent, waiting lists of over a year for anything except overnight shelters where there's a 90-day limit. Many have their kids with them living in tents in small encampments because the larger better areas they used to be in have been closed off to the homeless now. People used to rent out houses for their costs plus a modest profit, but now most rentals are owned by large corporations, REITs, and investor groups who sim,ply charge the highest rents they can get away with, and the already-rich get richer as the poor become homeless. So sad praying for them. I’m in fear I’ll be homeless soon. Jesus Christ, lift me out of my debts and provide me financial stability. As a single mother things are hard on me. I’m broken hearted. My husband passed years ago. I’m alone. Both of my sons are autistic and require so much from me. I’m constantly struggling to provide for them. Why me Lord. My life has always been a struggle from being abused as a child to not having a family like most folks. Father God hear my prayers. I’m ashamed as I constantly struggle to pay my bills and I constantly struggle to provide groceries for my sons. Please Jesus bless me with a job opportunity that allows me to provide abundantly for my children. I will keep faith even though I want to give up. Please hear my Father.

Mark, you are so right about all this. There really is no checks and balances for non profits who are supposed to help homeless people with housing and other resources to get back on their feet again. I have been "hidden homeless" in the past. I have no addictions and no severe mental health issues. I have no criminal record either. I have two degrees. I know how so many of these non profits just literally pass people around or just give them printouts of resources. I know so many who are literally homeless going through the same thing. The city of San Diego bought some hotel buildings for apartments but the housing commission or authority doesn't help you connect to that housing. Also, there is a serious lack of bathrooms in downtown San Diego as well. It is not easy to get a spot in those parking lots with tent cities set up on 20th and B and other former overflow parking lots. You got to have a caseworker that isn't burned out yet on the job to help you get a voucher to stay at that tent cities set up too. You can't just get off the streets and walk over there to get some temp safe housing. There are a lot of barriers for people that the Mayor is clueless about.

That is NOT true! For every $100 increase in median rent, homelessness increases 9%. We're sober and chill but can't work due to disabilities. Other than fearing a break in and assault, the most difficult aspect of living in an RV is the way others treat us. Also know that when accepting a hotel room, peolle are only allowed to take two bags, so they lose most of there stuff. Imagine losing your apartment. You buy an old RV so you're not sleeping on the ground. It holds most of your stuff. Now, the city wants you to just lose everything you own. Plus, cost of the hotel rooms to taxpayers is huge. 5x the cost of an apartment. Housing ends homelessness and saves taxpayer money kzitem.info/news/bejne/tJ-wrqmIa2RmdqQ

You pay anywhere from $18-28/night in most State Parks and $5-20/night in most State Forests. Many states have a State Park Pass. This is usually an annual pass that allows free access to all of their State Parks! If you don’t have one of these you’ll typically end up paying a small fee ($2-8) to enter the park as well as nightly camping fees. In some states, RV parks with all the amenities & RV hookups are as low as $10 a night with bathrooms & laundry rooms & close to big retail & food stores. Why stay in LA? Best of luck to everyone.

With many millions of jobs in the country, and tragically estimates of 40% homeless people being schizophrenic or suffering other mental issues, you are correct that the solution involves providing help, but not at the destruction of businesses, neighborhoods, with disease, drugs, and crime. For instance the guy who has been out there 6 years, has done so by choice if he is able bodied. There were 10 million jobs available a few months ago, and now it is 8 million. I actually took a homeless person shopping for work clothes, gave him money for his ID so he could get a job in culinary in Las Vegas, and did he do that? No, he just continues to panhandle and from the last time I saw him, he has mental issues. Plicies have entirely failed of accommodation and allowing tents coming up on commercial or public property, and allowing people to be sleeping on public sidewalks and parks. The solution isn't just throwing money or letting people park their vehicles on the road. That is why California leads the country with 51% of the US homeless population. Your solution of BS is to penalize hard working people who are renting out their properties, where they have mortgages, and are subjected to terrible loss of income from people breaching contracts, and for having to pay many thousands of dollars for eviction and foreclosure. Wrong. California's policies have failed horrifically. The mentally ill need treatment, and it shouldn't be tolerated for people to sleep on sidewalks, in front of businesses, or to have their RV's parked over night. Its interesting that when that happens, homelessness declines significantly, but when there is accommodation, well, 51% of the homeless are in California. There need to be effective programs which are the opposite of appeasement. Which require the able bodied to seek out work, education, and gain employment and enhance their skills, and provide mental health and other care so they can do so. It isn't to allow tents, drugs, feces, and campers on the street. Sometimes people need to face life, and take responsibility for themselves and their lives. There should be far better structured opportunities, but the solution isn't of accommodation, which destroys cities....such as what is evidenced on these videos, or in San Francisco, and other areas of the country.
