I see the other comments.. but as a matter of fact the titration speed and simplicity is very good and I also learnt a new way for finding concentration .. Thanks a lot

Sweet i have to do this at work tomorrow and i haven't done a titration since uni (15+ yrs ago). Step one is "prepare and standardise a 0.1M NaOH solution" and i thought wtf :) now ill have it done in 5 mins thanks!

more accurate to use KHP in standardization of NaOH.

I suppose that is true if you could split drops of base. You must consider the rapid rise in pH near the equivalence point where one drop of base will change the pH by more than 4 units... approximately 5 to 9. This method will give a result with at least 3 significant figures... usually plenty for a high school laboratory experience. Thanks!

Decent video. However in an actual lab where you have many samples one does not have time to be back and forth between two burrettes. Question, the end point is at the first noticeable colour change right ?

Kitesa Ayana Just use n=cv, where n is number of moles, c=concentration of liquid and v is the volume. Make sure to use a balanced equation, for this instance it is NaOH+HCl-->NaCl+H2o.

the practicals in chemistry are very interesting and the videos also so wonderful nice showing out the equivalent point is reached but my question is what if you prepare the solution for titration and then take out the pilot from there you find that the volume of acid you were the intended is above the required volume, the which best way will I use to standardize the remain solution so as when I get the second attempt the volume obtain be the correct volume intended....?

I pour little water over a large amount of NaOH hoping to provide a stronger base to clean my bath tub sewer line.. but now the heat or the over concentrated solution created a firm layer of NaOH on the bottom ( think its from those thats not yet melted) and basically blocked the line completely.. what should I do? is there anyting that will melt this subsustance?

We can pipette Hcl right instead of adding from burrete.

Probably because he is in a high school lab and not in a professional lab. Unfortunately, our science programs don't get that sort of funding. It's sad because I'm in grade 11 university level chem and bio and our materials are so out dated. The coolest thing we have is an electronic balance!

Perhaps you didn't watch the entire video. I did what is called a "back titration" by adding more acid, then reaching the proper end point. This is why final buret readings are not taken until the proper end point is achieved. Hope that clears things up for you. All my best.

how can you tell if the solution after the titration is acidic or basic?
@SyncroEditz
9 жыл бұрын
Angelica Foster If we react a stong acid with a strong base, which is the case in this video it is a neutral solution. If it is a strong base with a weak acid it is a basic solution. And similar applies for strong acid with a weak base

by the concentration you will get after your calculation in mg/l or g/l, eg if u get 0.862g/l (its basic ) or 675g/1000ml (acidic)

Actually you are not correct Your supposed to add the acid on the right side not the left side The only reason why you got it correct is because you only had 2 of them not 3 You should get better results
@tomfong292

I don't know why I never thought of using two burettes! That way it is completely not a big deal if I overshoot the endpoint -- I can just add more acid. And because I'm using a burette, all I have to do is check my burette and see how much acid was actually used. And then, using the NaOH burette and known concentration, I can just take a quick reading and make my stoichiometric calculations. God. I was using a pipette to measure... complete idiot, am I.
