At this point, it's slavery. It's clear the future of music is uncertain. Collaborate. Do what u can afford. Create from the heart. Art isn't a commodity. The universe will bring what and who you need as long as you're on the path and working towards it .... rushing and stressing out won't help and you'll be back on KZitem waiting for someone to tell you how to fix it lol

Some ideas regarding contracts, I was signed in 2017 and got shelved so going back heres some ideas I got after learning more about law: -stipulations on budgets. Say a label offers you a 1 song deal with a $5,000 production budget, a $10,0000 video budget and a $10,000 marketing budget. With a one month deadline for recording and master Fair, that sounds like a good deal right? Not gonna detail masters/splits etc let’s say you’re pretty new and this is mostly to gain some real momentum. Stipulations should include: -the label does not carte Blanche own your next song, they specify own the song you record at their studio, so if it doesn’t work out you can still release music and just move on -if budgets are not met (and audit your label people!!!) its a direct pay out at 50% to you. If the label has you working for a month on this song but goes “nah we’re good” and you have a video and marketing budget left, now you have $10,000 paid out in cash And have deadline agreements on both ends, such as the label must release within 6 months or a year. If the marketing budget isn’t meant within 3 or 6 months of release they are penalized with a $2,000 fine each month the release date isn’t met and the marketing budget timelines. Importantly EVERY stipulation should have penalties to enforce the agreement on the label’s end, audit your label with every aspect of the budget, and in general you should do this but document everything. Have a google doc where you write down exactly how long you are working in the studio, on the video, marketing etc, how much is spent, views and how much you should be making etc, And very important maybe controversial advice, i don’t recommend an entertainment lawyer. Or I don’t recommend ONLY an entertainment lawyer, most of which have very friendly relationships with the label if not directly work for the label. And no do not accept a lawyer or management from a label, thats an extreme conflict of interests. I recommend going to a big firm and probably seeking an estate lawyer, same legal concepts of ownership enforcement and percentages. Pair this with an experienced manager and you should have a very solid foundation to negotiate

I believe artist should distribute, produce and control their music careers... I preach it because I feel you should own your business. Now address the artist that does nothing, takes no responsibility, only want to perform and have the glory moments. They want the label to do everything from a - z. Which takes money But do not want the label to get paid or recoup cost, bare minimum. Your thoughts 👀❤️👍🏽🤔

All good but the guy with the dreads voice sounds way to lazy it makes me want to switch off and i zone out when he starts ro speak? as I can't understand the mumble when he slurs so much. Just maybe needs some speech therapy and bit more dynamic for audience to engage more if you really trying to do a podcast for the public. Hope you take it as positive criticism as you guys talk some good advice...

More dope coverage fellas keep dropping gems. Loved the topic covering interest from a label, it’ll be beneficial and intriguing to see where industry players are ranking you with your music and current influence…if they’re legit. Also liked the approach to filter different content strategies and repeat the ones that hit or “go viral” for 80% of your posts while still testing new ones and adding them to the cycle. Being a face within a community that actually brings value and not dropping “check out my music’ posts every 5 seconds needs to be said louder for ***’z in the back lmao
