At first glance Labour’s mandate is impressive; It’s majority of 174 is the second largest in its history, but is built on a 34 % share of the vote (almost the same as Jeremy Corbyn’s). Britain’s fickle electorate were determined to see the back of the chaotic Tories and used the first-past-the-post voting system to dramatic effect. So, what kind of mandate does that give the new government?
