Located at 968 meters above sea level along the border between Lazio and Umbria, Labro is nestled between Lake Piediluco and Mount Terminillo. The name probably comes from the Latin “ lavabrum ”which means “basin” in reference to the ancient Velinus lake which dried up following the cutting of the Marmore waterfall in Roman times. Starting from the Middle Ages ( year 956), by decision of the emperor Ottone I, the village has belonged to the lordship of the de' Nobili family and later to the one of Vitelleschi. Labro is one of the most beautiful villages in Italy and has been completely renovated, in respect of its historical identity, since the 1960s by a group of international architects, especially Belgian.
