What do you get when you find the middle-ground between ZZT and MegaZeux? Why, a platformer of course! :D
Today's Ancient DOS Game was meant to be Gunmetal, but due to technical issues I had to instead go with something else at the last minute and decided on Labyrinth of Zeux, a text-mode platformer made by Software Visions in 1993 that was the precursor to and served as the foundation to the MegaZeux game creation system.
It's actually pretty crazy how very closely this game resembles a typical MegaZeux platformer, both in the way it looks and feels, despite coming out before MegaZeux, but beyond the similarities, it's VERY difficult. :P

Something I didn't pick up on until much later, surprisingly, is that the internal speed setting is not saved and needs to be readjusted each time you load the program... which means some of my footage was captured at Speed 4 with 30,000 DOSBox cycles, meaning it's going quite a bit faster than I would've preferred, but somehow didn't really notice was happening...? :o
