Thank you! I tried your idea, and it really helped. I cut up a Dr. Scholl's memory foam shoe insert instead. I also switched to waxed laces to keep the inserts secure. I fractured the top of my foot years ago, and skate pain has kept me from playing for years. At 51, I thought my skating days were behind me. Yesterday, I was able to skate for an hour and a half! I appreciate your effort posting this video.

Hey I just came back from my very first tryout and I realized that I’m starting to get lace bite again (perfect timing) I jus wanted to know if a sponge could work as well?

Yes it should as long as it isn't too firm. The important thing is that it takes up the excess volume on the sides of the top of your feet. Give it a try and let me know how it works!

Intuitively I'd put the foam directly on the sore spot, but your method does make a lot more sense.

Same here! We all do that first but it doesn't help.

thank you sir, good idea. Gonna try it on my next training. What about the lacing do you do it the usual way?
@BisonArmory

Yes, I lace as usual. I tried the fancy lacing techniques and got minimal relief. With this method I just use normal lacing. Let me know how it works for you!

it did work! I can't thank you enough, the best idea i could find throughout the Internet. Although it took quite a while to heal once i got ''bitten''. I didn't have a mat, so i used some similar material, and made a square with an empty middle cut out of it for the problem areas, so it's a one piece for each foot, of a square doughnut shape. And it's a part of my skates from now one.

@@stingpax9453 - glad you got it to work! I might try your method... easier to have one piece than two, and with two they can fall out part way through a game. Getting it to heal is the key, once you have it beat then just keeping lace bite from showing back up isn't so bad. Thanks for the reply!

What is the name of the material you cut from? And where can you get one?

It's just a simple camping mat. You can get them at Walmart, Target, Fred Meyer and lots of other places. They're only a few dollars.

Do you cut new pads out every time you skate?

No, they tend to last about 3-4 skates or more
