They have so many good songs! Hillary Scott is multi-generational Nashville. Her mom is Linda Davis, talented artist in her own right, most notably for her duet with Reba McEntire, Does He Love You. And since she was one of Reba’s back up singers, Hillary grew up on the road with the likes of her and Brooks & Dunn. Champagne Night is a fun one by them, as is Ocean (which is incredibly deep)…. There are more, but these are a couple of my faves.

Yeah, a number of country songs slide into the pop side of things too, so that’s why this one went into mainstream radio. One who goes the other way, went from harder music to slightly country is Kid Rock, and he does it well! I really like his Bawitdaba really gets both sides of his music. And Born Free, more country than rock, but still a really great blend.

When you're as old as I am and grew up listening to "traditional" country music, this isn't it. It's what considered country now. I'm not saying it's bad or shouldn't be called country music, but it's a long, long ways in style and sound from George Jones, Tammy Wynette, Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, Merle Haggard, etc....

@@johndavidson5228 I'm not saying it's not country music. It's what's considered country music now. I grew up listening to country in the 60's and 70's. Since that is what I grew up with, that is what I consider country music. Times change. I'm sure what's considered country music now will be completely different from what will be considered country music 40 or 50 years from now.

I hate labels. It is a lazy excuse for not listening and evaluating each song/artist on their own merit. I love MUSIC that is good and ARTISTS that are good from all genres - Blue Grass to Classical and Gospel. Just as you did, we cut ourselves off from wonderful experiences and new music because we "label" someone and dismiss them. Some of the most interesting Reactors are those who have said, "I always listened to X and now I want to broaden my horizons and listen to these other things and see what you all are going on about", just as you have done. Give your wife a chance, she may be doing the same thing you and millions of others do - label and dismiss. Blessings

Part of country music is emotion and storytelling. This song has both in spades. I don't want to hear anyone ever say this song is not country. I have my issues with modern country. And there are a lot of "country songs" that have no place in the genre. This song is not one of them.

This is country. I'm from Alabama. And I love all genre of music. But I grew up on Southern Gospel music and country music. Though I love alot of the new country. I love even more older country and especially 90's country music when we had legend country singers like Reba McEntire, Brooks and Dunn, Garth Brooks, Randy Travis, Travis Tritt, Dwight Yaokam, The Judds, George Straight, Alan Jackson, Vince Gill, Keith Whitney, and so many other amazing country artists. I encourage you to look up all the legendary artists and write down all of their hit songs bevause you want regret watching them. So many of them I know you will fall in love with based of your other reactions.. And what I love is your also learning a great deal about how different we are here in the South and what we like and what we do and how we work hard and persevere and also come together as a community and go to church and show good Southern Hospitality and good manners. It's just well know that here in the south, where there are more choices of churches to go to then shops, that we although are alike to others in some ways, the majority of us and strangers you meet in the South and the ones you run into the most are all very friendly and well mannered and hard working and they love Jesus and football or atoeast Jesus. And life down here is so very different then up north above the Bible Belt and also out west towards California. We are infact very different from tjem in some ways. Atleast the majority of us are. For one, Ever heard of a New York minute? Well that's is how New Yorkers and some of the northeners and people towards Las Vegas in the city if sin as some of us call it seem to live. They live a very fast life style. Always on the go. Work and money a first priory for many of them. Maybe not all. But many would guess the majority of them. And yes I'm sure some of them may be Christians, or may be atheists or may be Muslim. They can be friendly I'm sure, however in alot of cases they are less.sociable and very rude. And if you sit by a stranger and bring up the mention of God, chances are your talking to someone who is not a Christian. Where as the chances of you sitting next to a stranger in the Southern states and you mention God and they are not a Christian is very rare... Amd that is bevause the majority of us in the South represent a true American Christian. I'm not trying to be mean or judgey. I'm just telling you the the facts. There is a reason why people I the south who traveo.up North and get a taste of the lifestyle and what the people like usually turn right back around and come back home and never return. Most of them said, that life style was not for them. That they wanted to return to God's country. Also here in the South we are also even more Patriotic then some Northeners. For one, so many army bases are here in the South, and we are constantly reminded of what our men and women in tje army do and sacrifice for us. You will find here in the south that we are not onky very patriotic for our country but also for our State we were born and raised in... I know one British person didn't understand how come football was so big and how just anybody and everybody would go to a college football game. How they could more so see it if it was like just friends and family who went if they knew somebody personally who was playing. And that comment right there told me how.in tje dark they are about college football and how it impacts a state and brings civilians of that state together. And also contributes to us being State Patriotic. Yes if it's a elementary or high school football game, people in town may come but mainly parents and friends and family and people who use to go to that school may carry their kids to see a game. But College football IS HUGE in comparison. It's like NFL Football being compared to a high school football game. There is a massive difference and energy. Now college football is what is the most ocular for men, woman and kids. So people go to the games with their families and friends and get season tickets. It's almost like a religion. LOL! As you continue to dive into country music you will see that country music has many genres. Jason Aldean can rap.some but I've been to his concert and he has SO many Great songs. Cool known fact, Jason Aldean wife was going to University Alabama... Jason Aldean had everyone on their feet. And my husband said it felt like being in a country/rock concert. Then you listen to George straight or Garth Brooks Randy Travis, Travis Tritt, The Judds, Faith Hill, Garth Brools wife the country singer Trisha Yearwood, amd all these other artists and you start to see how Country music has many different Genres to it which is great. If you have any questions feel free to ask me. I have alot of great songs that are huge hits I'm sure you would love both by artists you have reacted too neanother artists new and old you have not reacted to yet. God Bless You for being so open minded and willing to learn more about us and our music here in the south. As you have heard in so many country songs, God is mentioned often and I love how.country music also glorifies God. So if you are a Christian, than you would have love growing up in the south. I think you would also have enjoyed our barn dances. Those are so much fun! Not everybody has been to one but others here and there has. Amd what I love is all the bands we have around here that play cover music and play in restaurants and bars etc and nobody but us knows about them and how talented they are. So we get the best of both worlds. I could totally educate you on country music and also expose you to other great artists from other genres... Im a singer and song writer/ musician. And I have family in the buisness. Infact my older cousin is good friends with country music legend Hank Williams Jr. And they sometimes play music or golfing together. He is a great man who is so down to earth. He has a house here in Alabama. Also, one of the members from the famous band called "Alabama" Song of the South and so many other hit songs, well one of them came to my husband's company picnic and played music with some other guys which was really cool. And there was no security or anything. Everybody just kicked back and listened to them play or got up and danced. And we had alot of food being served as well. And I think that is what I love about famous country singers. Although famous, they are still down to earth.

I would love to hear you react to some Keith Urban "When God Whispered Your Name" or "One Too Many" or Brad Paisley "I'm gonna miss her" or "She's Everything", they're both incredible Country artists. Oh yeah and Lady A are definitely Country Artists, not pop song people. Country music is just newer and a little more "less sleepy/whiney" than it was back in the day, but it's still Country Music!!!
