When this cartoon was made in 1931, animation was a brand-new art form. The reason why all the motions of the animals is so exaggerated is because they were experimenting, seeing which movements worked best for the action of the movies. And because the medium was so new, there were no restrictions for what could or couldn’t be shown. The best example of an early cartoon that would be creepy and frightening by today’s standards is called “Swing You Sinners!”. If you’re curious, you can watch it here on KZitem.

I like these cartoons because they're a bit more expressive to me, and I like how raunchy they are. In a Disney cartoon it would've just been Mickey using a cow's tail as a guitar, but these cartoons have all these animals drinking their lives away.

Personally I love cartoons from the era's of the 1920's and 30's because they basically defy any and all facts of life with all sorts of zany funny and completely crazy things. And for the most part I enjoy that, I mean come on we don't really get to see in real life a mouse named Mickey who can talk sing and almost do everything a human does. Meanwhile in the world of cartoons Mickey would actually exist and be able to do things. I like to think that these cartoons are some what connected in a sort of way, mainly because of how many animation companies that existed in the late 20's and 30's and I can see why these different cartoons would sort of be connected in a way of either style, animation, and general personality. But that's my opinion anyways so overall these cartoons are the best cartoons by anyone's standards.

A LOT of cartoon characters were drawn in that style-it didn't originate with Disney. Disney himself had done "Oswald the Rabbit", and Mickey was basically Oswald with Mouse Ears instead of Rabbit ones. Plus, the producers of this cartoon had worked for Disney. Disney DID either sue or threaten Ven Bueren productions, who got a bit too close to Mickey and Minnie!

His name was Foxy, a creation by Hugh Harman and Rudolph Ising, who also introduced Bosko as the original Looney Tune in 1930. Seriously, what's the difference between Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies? I mean, they both belong to Warner Brothers, and they both have characters sing songs from the 20's to 40's. What do they don't have in common?
@AxoElle
7 жыл бұрын
Cami J. Green Well, the formula for Merrie Melodies always had the characters sing the song in the title at some point. Looney Tunes didn't always have a song in it. But by 1944,the two series became basically the same thing. In 1934 Merrie Melodies stopped doing black and white cartoons. In 1944, Looney Tunes did too. This is when the two series became the same.

While Merrie Melodies mostly was one shot shorts that used songs from the Warner music libaray. Sure Looney Tunes also used songs but compared to the Merrie Melodies, The MM shorts did the songs more often then the LT shorts.
