Los Angeles Fire Department was dispatched to the intersection of Pico Boulevard and Westwood Boulevard for a reported structure fire. Light Force 92 was first on scene and reported a one story row of commercials with fire through the roof. Firefighters initially went in the offense mode to attack the fire but switched to a defensive posture as conditions worsened. The rapidly growing fire caused an interior collapse of the structure, which was once a well-known eatery for those living on the westside. Firefighters utilized ladder pipes and exterior hand lines, known as "surround and drown", to get a handle on the blaze. It took firefighters 79 minutes to get a knockdown on the fire. No injuries were reported. The cause remains under investigation.
