Worth noting that in the EU mass layoffs are a long process that can more than a month (30 days in Ireland, 45 in the UK, and basically never in the case of France if the company is globally still profitable). The best leaders will never suggest a layoff until every other option is exhausted. Low profits for a quarter or two is more moral than kicking people out.

If you see my "Layoffs Done Right" video, you'll see that I discuss the reasons behind a layoff as a core component of how to do them well.

Please, I've been searching for your video on values; values problems where you elaborated profoundly on intensity, edge... A friend sent it to me two years back, but I lost the clip. It would be great to have it on KZitem.

I'm not sure the video you're talking about. But over 90% of my videos posted on any platform are here on YT. Can you help me with any more info about the video? I'd be happy to help you find it.

And be kind to other persons, even if not networking intentionally. It will come back some day. I helped younger fellow students back in my university days - 4 years later I got happily recommended by a student I didn't even remember. Never expected that. Best job and team I got in so far. Still enjoy working there.

I still remember being abruptly laid off 30 years ago waiting for the last check in the office and knowing first hand the new consultant firm had a track record of massive failures and it would continue while I'm out the door

Sometimes a layoff is an escape in disguise. Rarely feels like that at the time, though.
