This morning, I ventured out to explore a new trail. I decided to ride the North Shore trail at Lake Apopka, as the weather was sunny and clear. Starting from the Magnolia Trailhead and heading towards the west, I followed the trail which was constructed on a levee built in 1941 to separate Lake Apopka.
The North Shore area used to be farmland until 1997 when the government purchased the land and restored it to wetlands. Along the trail, there were pump stations that helped in redirecting cleaned water back to the main lake. The ride led me to the Green Mountain nature preserve, where reaching the lookout point, I could admire the valley below.
Today's journey covered a distance of 36 miles, allowing me to observe a variety of wildlife and nature throughout the ride.
