Hey JB and Sparky! i have to praise both of you for doing the miles in such high humidity and very dangerous heat index! I'm older than you guys but these are the very reasons I don't hike in the summer. These conditions make an enjoyable hobby not so enjoyable! Haven't done any of this trail but I'm very familiar with the lake and camp grounds. I used to spend a lot of time camping, fishing and boating on Ouachita. Hope ya'll have rested and made a full recovery from this hike. As always thanks for taking time to produce these vids! Be safe and happy trails..

Thanks Dan. This was a learning experience for sure. From now on I'll stick to kayaks until it drops into the low 80s. Maybe even lower. Lol. Thanks again for watching.

Jimbo, thank you for making this video. I plan on hiking the whole trail one of these days. Based on your video experience, I will probably add an extra day to the hike. I vacation at Mountain Harbor Resort which is basically on the LOVIT almost every year and have been during it for years, but never hiked all 30+ miles. I generally just do day hikes in the spring or fall. We always do our hiking in the spring or fall, never in the summer. Glad you are okay and survived the heat.

I definitely recommend this trail. Just not in the heat. I think there are some great views when the leaves are off the trees. There are a handful of good climbs, but for the most part it's a mellow trail with a bunch of benches to take breaks. Thank you very much for the view and comments.

Heat exhaustion is serious. Sounds like you had the symptoms. It's way too F'n hot to hike in AR. this time of year, let alone even go outside when the Sun's out. I find it prime time to plan/prep for the Fall /winter Ozark trips and activities👍. A+ for effort guys! Scratch that one off the list!

This was definitely a brutal trip. Lesson learned. I was ignorant to think I could just pound water and expect to be ok. From now on I'll be using Nuun tablets or some other electrolyte to add onto my water. Your right. The heat is no joke. As always, thanks a ton for watching.

FarOut (formerly Gut Hook) needs to add some of these other trails in Arkansas. I just found out this trail existed yesterday. It's on my to-do list now. I saw your tattoo at the beginning. I'm wondering if we have any musical taste overlap. I listen to some punk and metal. Converge, Gojira, Torche, Fugazi, The Melvins, etc. Living in AR it can be frustrating. My buddies are musically challenged and just don't get it. Haha

It's a great one. Good distance, great views. Just don't go when it's stupid hot out.

33:30 I had that same Osprey pack that Sparky has in this video. It looks like he had the same issue with the outside big pocket that mine had. I sent mine into Osprey and they stitched that mesh part in. I can't believe the original design just had it glued in place. SMH. What were they thinking??
