Prohići is a populated place in the municipality of Srebrenica, Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The settlement is located in the southern part of the Srebrenica municipality, in the Osat region. It is 31.5 kilometers from the town of Srebrenica. The southwestern, lower part of the settlement is located on the shores of Lake Perućac, in the lower part of the slope of Zabrđa, while the hamlet of Grujičići, the upper part, is located at the foot of the hill Karan-gaj (997 m). A small part of the settlement is submerged by the hydro-accumulation of the lake. It is of a broken type with six hamlets: Grujičići, Kovačići, Prohići, Rausići, Vučica and Zagaj. Coastal hamlets (Kovačići, Prohići and Zagaj) are located at an altitude of 300 to 350 m, while Grujičići is located at 650 m. The settlement includes the cadastral municipalities of Prohići (1.65 km2) and Vučica (1.66 km2) with a total area of 3.3 km2, of which 43% is privately owned. Children from Prohić attended a four-year primary school in Klotjevac and Osat, while religious duties were performed in mosques in Klotjevac and Osat, which were demolished by members of the VRS in 1993.
The Bosniak population is mainly made up of descendants of immigrants expelled during the 19th century from western Serbia, mainly Užice and Bajina Bašta.
In the 1879 census, Prohići had 119 inhabitants (all Bosniaks), in 1885 172 (122 Bosniaks and 50 Serbs), in 1895 147 (113 Bosniaks, 30 Serbs and four others), in 1910 178 (118 Bosniaks, 52 Serbs and eight others), in 1921 163 (119 Bosniaks, 43 Serbs and one other), in 1948 273, in 1953 312, and in 1961 346 (225 Bosniaks, 70 Serbs and 51 others).
The total population growth in the period from 1879 to 1991 was 250%. From 1895 to 1991, the number of households increased by 151%, and from 1879 to 1991, the number of houses increased 4.8 times. In 1991, 93 economically active residents lived in Prohići, who were engaged in construction (33 people), agriculture (25 people), industry and mining (nine people), trade and housing and communal services (four people each), transport and hospitality. (two people each), and forestry and socio-political activity (one person each). Literacy was 41% in 1953, and 87.9% in 1991. 87 people (31 women) completed primary education, 35 people (one woman) completed secondary education, and one man completed high school.
