If they allow him playing time, the Lakers have a 7 foot shot blocker, rebounder, and scorer in Castleton in his 2nd season. They have Max Christie now in his 3rd season ... and Dalton could be productive this season. Looking further into it I think once Klay Thompson turned them down the Lakers immediately moved into their backup plan. They're trying to only compete for championships and they didn't feel any of the deals were enough to get them over the hump and didn't see Valanciunas would get them over the hump either. Starting next year (25-26) w/ the new TV deals the Salary Cap is expected to take a big jump (10%). Lebron showed a willingness to take a pay-cut but I believe they told him to make his money this season and be willing to take an even bigger cut next season with the increased salary cap. Look for the Lakers to NOT take on more long term salary this season which means NO Jerami Grant or Cam Johnson. Watch out for names like Bruce Brown Jr, Dorian Finney Smith and Dennis Schroder w/ D'Lo and other long-term salaries going out (Vincent/Rui/Vanderbilt).

Lakers are stuck with a 40 year old player who acts like he is the owner of the organization.

Max's big contract showed TP where he stands in Laker land. Easy call from TP's perspective. TP probably thinks he's the better player and I don't blame him for that. Guess we're betting on a big jump from Max. Max looked great in summer league last yr but don't recall much during the season.

Why do you keep saying Lakers don't have roster spots?? They don't need to trim the team down until the start of the season. If Lakers wanted him, he wanted to be in LA, and he had a clear important role on the team, they could have signed him.

Just get an impactful Big &/or wing...you can use any/all of AR, Gabe, Cam, JHS, pick(s). Would keep Dlo for his 3 point shooting/playmaking (connects well with AD), Rui for offense & Vando for D. Knecht & Christie can nicely fill the remaining void. Knecht will surprise with his underrated athleticism/upside compared to what AR can muster. Hopefully Bronny grows his wings under his dad's...

The first move they need to make is to trade Christian Wood's 3m into another team's space. Unfortunately, this move may require attaching a second round pick. This simple move gets them 1m under the apron and they can get to work.

I'm tempted to ignore JJ entirely and pretend Nate McMillan is our head coach. Probably a good idea because the odds of JJ resigning for one reason or another in the first two seasons is fairly high.

Listen i like Taurean but the reality of the situation was we don't have the room for him literally. Between not having a roster spot #1 and #2 there is no rotation minutes for him. Christie and Knecht are going to get rotation mins. Vando/ Gabe who both missed majority of season will be getting rotation minutes. DLO, Reaves, Rui , Bron, AD will obviously be gstting mins. That's 9 spots. it's gonna be a big getting that final spot either Hayes/ Wood or some other big via trade/ min contract off bench. So there was no mins for him in this rotation. Wish him the best on Bucks but I'm not losing any sleep over losing someone that would have been on bench whole time.
