Wow, I can only imagine the elaborate journey to get this rare masterpiece running again, and the ambiguity of this project after your first reaction of 'absolutely not' understanding that the block has warped and some vital parts have worn... Quite the deliberation it all must have been to get it going... Hopefully, nobody in the far future will ever going have it in their right mind to actually fit it back in a car... People with money sometimes can do things not always the wisest perhaps, but let's have faith that this does remain a display piece now only. Thank you for sharing this marvel with us!

It is marvellous that the owner gave you a wad of money and said: Go for it. That’s not a cheap jobby you’ve summed up there. Wow. You’re very right restricting that throttle. I did that to a Rolce Royce Griffon once. A whole different beast of course but yeah….. Wouldn’t want to see nice new inner parts come flying by at start up. People oohing and aahing around it ending up with a connecting rod added to their body. All that added body weight and it isn’t even Christmas……

Great to see a historic engine like this. The only 'criticism' I could say would be that the throttle lever has too much lateral movement in it to suit the high standard of engineering of the engine/car/brand I think. It looks like it could do with another mount at the end of the shaft attached to the frame just under the oil pressure guage as opposed to just the single mount on the side of the frame to firm it up a bit and give it the precision it deserves, but that's just my opinion. Well Done anyway. 🙂

Love your work, being a bit OCD those plug wires need to run all in a line not crossing over, those braided hose pipes look a bit naff and the clips holding them on need shorter bolts - IMO replace with something less bulky. Wonderful work however and just being picky as its such a historic engine - wish I had the skills.
