Just installed this same floor in my home. Sure wish I watched this first lol Great video, this guy knows his stuff. If you’re going to install this floor definitely listen to this guys tips.

Using screws to hold the first row of boards down into place to install the others is a great idea.

I absolutely love your videos. You are one of the best contractors on the web. But I need to come from Montreal and clean all your tools.

Awesome video and very helpful!! The floor looks excellent! I was going to go with that exact “Haley oak” xp but went with the wider Pergo “classic deco oak” which is 5.2 wide by 14mm thick, and more “spill proof”. That floor looks so nice I’m starting to wonder if I made the right choice. I’m about to do it soon and this video really helped although I wish you were my neighbor lol

I would plaster the old fireplace like Kirk Giordano shows in his vids, give it a fresh, modern look.

Thanks. Good tips. Did 1500 sq ft in my house. Undercut large fire place same way: was a dust bowl.

Great video, thank you. When I take the carpet out and see the subfloor then how do I determine and find out which way my joists are running?

Just started watching and have to comment. Great idea with undercutting the brick fireplace step! Where do you get your Ardex materials, is it some sort of specialized wholesaler? Here in Atl no regular big-box stores carry it. Another awesome BRT tip, screwing the first board to prevent bouncing! Floor looks great. As you said, tough to say that its not hardwood. Even pups blend in as they are part of it. 💪👊👍

Ardex is local to me (Aliquippa plant) so many places carry it. Their website is terrible 😆 no locator tool. The tile shop has a lot of their thinsets on hand, not sure about feather finish. There is always Amazon - amzn.to/3TwW1eF

@@BathroomRemodelingTeacher Amazing how such a superior “go-to” product/brand like Ardex is mysterious and reclusive. 😂 We do have TileShop so will check that out. 👍

A month ago you had a video on caulking a shower. Do you have a video which shows how you installed the trim (shower head/arm, bar/hand held, valve plate and handles)?

Great video but I have a question. When setting your first piece did measure off the reference line you struck? I didn't see where you mentioned that. And, is there a reason you started at the bay window side rather than the opposite wall? Thanks.
@BathroomRemodelingTeacher
Жыл бұрын
Yes, I did reference the line at that point. Not sure what has happen to my footage of that. And main reason for starting there was the flooring continued into hallway on opposite side of room. So it’s always left to right. This was a somewhat complicated floor layout.. took 3 1/2 days to do. Had about 12 hours of film to edit 😆

I’m almost done with my small bathroom using your non membership videos. I have one question…2nd floor condominium bathroom, I have narrowed it down to Stamped Steel tub or Acrylic tub, not sure which one to use. Based on your experience what would you recommend? Thanks
@nmatthew7469
Жыл бұрын
Acrylic is higher end, I just followed his instructions and installed a stamped steel after busting up the old cast iron. Some people suggest insulation on the bottom of those cheapie steel tubs, gives them less of a hollow sound and the water stays warmer longer.

@@nmatthew7469 …Thanks, I’m using Structolite as the base for tub. Weight was not an issue?

Hope you watched this video 😆 took an enormous amount of time to create I would go with acrylic, but not a box store model. American standard, jacuzzi are my favorites have all other recommendations throughly explained in courses 👍 thanks Steve

What can you do if you cannot undercut the fire place.
@BathroomRemodelingTeacher

Not many great options…try to trim it with shoe mold? You need to leave a gap for movement…so not great if you can’t undercut
