Reasons I love Lana: 1. It's like she stepped out of the 1950/60s 2. When people say she can't sing, she proves them wrong like with the high note in Cola 3. She doesn't have a soft little girl voice, her voice is raspy 4. She has this rock pop type voice that's really rare 5. When she hits her notes they're clear and connected 6. She can smoke a cigarette and still hit a note 7. Her style is very vintage meets classic 8. If Audrey Hepburn and Amy Winehouse had a baby it would be her.... 9. She's better than your fave 10. She doesn't give two nuts what anyone says about her LOVE HER TO PIECES💜

only deaf-mute would think she cant sing, she is a powerful singer not to mention formidable, if not the best today songwriter- who wrote 150 songs for himself/herself in 5 years time? and got themselves album that lasted on billboard 200 8 years?
@sycamore2656

Well I love her work mostly because of the sound, and vibe I get from it when I listen to it. But if she is one of the best songwritters today... fuck me. We are doomed. Even as a fan of hers I can admit that her lyrics are full of cliches, and poorly developed methaphors. The problem besides her cliche themes is that she writes songs around the words she thinks sound beautiful like: paradise, heaven... or methapors like: "Queen of Saigon" that are misplaced in a song and they don't have meaning but she uses it many times cuz it sounds beutiful to her... Also she rhymes like she is in elementary... she rhymes: Boys with toys, girls with pearls, city with pretty... it makes you cringe that a grown woman rhymes like that. Also she almost never develops her constant themes of being the other woman who likes older sugar daddy types - she just milks the image with constant mentions of drugs and booze to give more edge to that image. For example Nina Simone's song "The Other Woman" is an amazing written work portraying that lifestyle. LDR covered it for Ultraviolence. Butttt considering that the character she portrays in the song is shallow, that shallow character needs shallow songwritting. She does have some gems in terms of songwritting, it is mostly when she isn't portraying anybody but herself.

Also about that 150 songs argument, I think she has like 200+ doesn't matter, most of them are unrealesed probably cuz most of them are trash, but there are gems tho. I know I listened to 100+ of her songs.

@@radekjasionowski5651 Just don't get me wrong I love her music, her live voice and aesthetic... but while almost everyone praises her songwritting, I don't: most her demographics are young teens who thinks she is good songwritter because she "sounds deep", when actually she is shallow, and it is ok to be shallow if you write it cleverly: but she doesn't! And personally about the albums: she hit her peak with Honeymoon, NFR sounds promising, loved loved Ultraviolence( even tho it had weakest writting)... least favourite to me was Lust for Life( Heroin was truly a saving grace), second least favourite is BTD - I don't even remember the last time I listened to it, which is ironic cuz I started listening to Lana because of it.
@radekjasionowski5651

Oton Bmk I agree honeymoon was the peak - mature and smokey and sexy, however; Ultraviolence is good and born to die touches a few very good stuff , namely, off to the races is her solid stuff and lyrics are very good. Also she depicts a borderline personality to the dot in her Carmen and Off to the races, I didnt like Love that much either and press made it as her “happy album”; rubbish. But Honeymoon is classic that was eaten between two albums, her confidence and her vocals now on stage are perfect. Also I hear what she reads and while her BTD persona is often borderline girl, Lana is more mature and stronger and geeky quiet inside in real life Re lyrics on Ultraviolence i see a bit different- Brooklyn baby is not about girl singing while her boy plays guitar- it’s her homage to Lou Reed, also he supposed to sing with her on that but he died! So you can hear him at the end a bit, like man Lou Reed vocal at the back
