I got a Lanber O/U for my 12 birthday when they were first released in Australia in 1987. Conservative estimate, I put around 30,000 shells through it in close to 18 years of solid use in the field and on clays before passing it on Interestingly the price point in the mid 80's was around $500, so they were extremely popular with junior shooters

I have had my 2097 from about 1998 I have an issue with mine,if the selector is set to fire the bottom barrel first then the top barrel the gun operates perfectly but if I select top barrel first it only fires the top barrel and won't fire the bottom? Any advice appreciated.

Side note: Suva Clay Target Club in Fiji had a coue of Lanbars, t As a club gun that routinely fired a case a week, these specimens were absolutely flogged, but still functional when I got handed one in 2008. I doubt any of the newer, lighter alloy receiver Turkish guns would handle the same amount of usage.

Thank you so much for your honest review of my favorite over/under. I've shot budget (cheap) and expensive over/under shotguns but by far this is my favorite shotgun of all time to shoot sporting clays with. I found out recently that Lanber had gone out of business and they are hard to find here in the US. Wish I could find a couple out there that I could buy...would buy them in a heart beat. I know I can find them in the UK where they are more readily available but by the time I pay and have them transferred, it would be too much money.

I recently bought a 2009 Lanber field from Holts for £80, I have had Miroku, Browning 525, 725 and now a Beretta X400 but the lanber out shoots the lot, can't wax enough about it. Pleasure to shoot and own.

I've had this very model Lanber from new, put very many rounds through it over the years and it is still what I consider a "stiff" action. Indestructible by any means and all told a great gun. It was my first "starter" shotgun in 12 gauge and I'll never sell it. I'm not sure what you're getting at when you mock the oil finish of the wood, I think it is rather nice. 👍 Just to add, that I had no idea that Lanber are out of business, it is a pity that these things inevitably have to happen. One persons business failure leads to another's success.

My first and only gun - a Lanber Sporting identical to the one shown. Sadly almost never used - the barrel is still pristine and not a mark anywhere. Very stiff action 9unsurprisingly). going to shoot clays in the morning so it's getting an airing - first time in about 8 years.... Great video btw...

got myself a 2nd hand lanber from a trading site here in the UK, was sold a hunk of junk that would only fire 1 barrel (faulty inertia mechanism) and had a wobbly forestock witch could be heard across the room, the shocking thing was that it came from a RFD who i guess tried to pull a fast one on me. long story short i got myself a refund and invested in a browning medalist sporter and never looked back. The moral of the story...buy local and ask around at your local gun clubs! Still like lanbers though ^^

another excellent video from the gun shop. I am bias though as I have a lanber 12g field since last year and for rough shooting it cannot be beat. A great handling gun that doesn't bring tears to the eyes should you mark it going waste deep in a bog or arse up in pile of brambles. Would love to see a review of the 20bore.

I'm new to this. My son and his fiance invited me to go with them to buy a first shotgun for Zoe(fiancr). The gun shop owner brought out a selection of second hand guns. Among them was a 20 year old Landa sporting deluxe, single trigger, ejector, full set of chokes. Barrels so so clean. I don't know why buy I couldn't keep my hands off it. Gun shop owner had sold it originally and the shop owner said it hadn't been fired for 8 years. He rated it and new how well it had been looked after. £275, what was I to do??? Needless to say its in the cabinet. My son loves it to and is gutted he didn't get in there first

I am so torn about a first gun investment. I know there is no guarantee on any gun, secondhand or new, but I have pretty much come down to two choices...... a new ATA with a 3 year warranty or a good example secondhand Lanber sport. Both these guns come in at about £600 which is the top of my budget, so still confused :)

How good and reliable is a Lanber Sporting in 2018 ? What about parts (USA) ? Who can service / repair it ? All feedback welcome. For whatever reason this is a shotgun that is hunting me ! Really thinking to buy one since I love them for whatever reason and nor owned or fired one . . .

They are good, they are reliable. Any good shotgunsmith will be able to work on them. As for USA spares i cannot help you, but there is a ready supply in the UK, and if in need things like strikers and mainsprings can be made for it very easily. Just make sure you get a more modern one.

Guessing u made a choice already. But lanbers are a great entry level gun. No real common issues and most serviceable spares will be available for quite some time. Good guns far better made than all entry levels available today. Built closer to say a silver pigeon spec than a new ata or akkar etc

finbar hendry neither, lanber went out of buisness years ago, no spares, and the ata are new to the game and lots of them are breaking already, double firing and not firing, and casings falling apart. Lincoln are far better for the money, and the obvious ones to buy are beretta, benelli, or if you dont mind a bit of rusting a browning.
