Maybe one of the "deepest" scenes of the movie, which has a lot of deep and moving scenes. I saw this movie as a teenager when it came out, I remember I was 13 or 14, and though I didn't understood all the meaning of it, I knew I have been watching a very important lesson for my life.

I can understand where Lancelot comes from considering having spent half his life fighting and not for a cause he chose. But at the same time I with arthur with always believing that a better world can be made even though it does seem like a an impossible dream and nothing more. It's that belief that help make arthur the kind of leader he is which in turn is why the knights trust, believe, respect and love arthur.Sure the world needs realist to keep it alive but it also needs dreamers to give it a soul.

That scene proves that Ioan Gruffudd is a far better actor than the wooden Clive Owen. Bloody awful movie though. It stole 2 hours of my life, and the stuff at the beginning saying how it was based on archaeological evidence had me spitting blood. As an archaeology postgrad I can safely say that it was horrendously inaccurate in many, many details.

OI! Historical accuracies or not, it's a far less far fetched story than the actual King Arthur story! I've had a bad night if i seem aggressive, I don't mean offence, but crying out loud it's only a film, you're assumedly a archaeologist by now, at least I'd hope you are, I'm an amateur Astronomer and I know a lot about Space, the film Battleship (2012) based itself upon a Goldilocks planet 20.4 light years away, which would take us 766,000 years to reach and yet it was still a great film, you have to separate yourself from what you know and appreciate what you're seeing nonsubjectively, otherwise you're stressing yourself out over nothing!

@@patrickhannon4217 agreed. I find the film's history far more realistic to the history of the world as we know it now, than the classical tales.

This never happened. Lancelot became subservant to the King from the house of Judah for the Land of England. Lancelot was a king of bigger Kingdom and gave his services and his brother and cousin to King Arthur for the Good of the England. Arthur loved His sons and Would have never killed Mordrid. That was the reason for the fall of Arthur. He battled Mordrid after fighting Ectors castle in France (LanceLots Old Castle)and lost too many men. Arthur’s youngest son was with Ector and only wanted to live in Peace and not have wars in his life. Arthur would not listen to reason and would not retire to Wales happily with Morgana, sister of LanceLot. He was wounded in the fight for the rule of England but was told to let Mordrid keep the throne but he did not listen. That made Mordrid’s Army to weak to fend off the Saxons/Swedes/Vikings from the north because of the in fighting for the crown. If Arthur would have let his son Mordrid keep the crown. It wouldn’t be only a legend but part of history. The books of Arthur/Uthar and Lancelot were burned because of spite. So they were lost to history and only told from people of other countries whom knew the stories.

Lancelot was a later addition to the Arthurian Mythos by French author Chrétien de Troyes in 12th century so I think its safe to say Legend of the King Arthur has pretty shaky real historical connections to begin with and what really happened changes from author to author.

Glad to know 181 people besides myself liked this scene the best. Why? I think it's cause philisophical, tactical, citizenship is at full spark between these two. They were smart to mix the cast with trained English stage actors along with great action film stars. This scene is like watching the best English theatre actors go at it. Nothing else would have made this scene great. Brilliant!

Arthur didn't just preach about God and Christianity Tyson... he truly believed in God and was a true Christian. It saddens me that even today you can't say that you're a Christian and believe in God without offending someone who doesn't share your religious beliefs. It's so convenient for people to accuse you of preaching and lecturing because they are too ignorant to see the difference between that and openly expressing your religious beliefs. Arthur never forced Lancelot or any of them to share his beliefs nor did he ever impose his beliefs upon them. At the same time though, he was not going to compromise his beliefs just to appease them.
@warriorking0723

I agree with Hampton. Arthur is a devoted christian who won't compromise his beliefs,values and principles to appease either his friends or enemies but he was not a fanatic who tried to force people to believe what he believes, especially not his knights. The knights love respect and trust arthur because they knew he was the kind of man who hold his beliefs firm but does not force his beliefs on them.

@@xyPERSON It's made clear that he allowed and encouraged the Sarmatians to hold onto and continue to practice their own beliefs and traditions, or what they could remember. he even took part in them (the song, sung by Vanora in the beginning.) I think he wants to share this part of himself with them, and not impose it on them because really, he's an outlier among them, and might just feel a bit alone. If he supports them, should they not support him, too?
