i was just thinking that exact same thing to myself. there was a lot of knowledge that was either lost or not passed on properly when i was in from 2011-2017. videos with this style of production would easily improve readiness and training with a relatively minimal investment on the part of the DOD.

I *love* these videos. The only thing I don't love about _this_ particular one is that it's pretty unrealistic. For one group, they follow their training and *everything* goes almost perfect. Obviously training is important, and experience, but there are *always* situations and problems you can't plan for or predict. It even says so three or four times in some of the other survival training videos in the series. But I still love it. Thanks Zeno! You rock! =)

They could mine and smelt ores, then with crude lathes and mills, to shape metals and develop a heat treating process. This will need the development of petroleum products to harden metals and propel engines. They then develop a large mineral mining process. With this technology they could build smaller aircraft, and caterpillars and transfer the jungle into an airport. At this time they will also develop a crop and animal raising program so everyone can eat healthy food. Near at this point they can develop the transistor, a monetary and health system. Then these five guys will become exhausted, however by now they have bred with native people and become a culture unto itself. By now they have developed robots that walk about nude and act like savages and don't allow outside people to communicate with the people who still live there. Who are really quit advanced. Or not.

one very important point he missed: NEVER cook dead shellfish or mollusks like shrimp, crayfish, oysters, mussels, etc. they go bad extremely quickly, and trust me--you do NOT wanna find out what happens 4-6 hours after eating bad shellfish. ok, i'll say it like the narrator: "make sure to cook only live shellfish and mollusks, because they spoil extremely fast--especially in jungle heat and humidity. dinner in the jungle might not be a fancy affair, but boy, you don't want to find out firsthand what happens to a man who's eaten bad shellfish."
