I could hardly wait for that brilliant starter sound spinning the engine over. The memories came flooding back and put a big smile on my face. Getting homesick for a Series watching these videos. However, as you know, it isn't possible or feasible for me at the moment. Covid/cold/flu, get some Benedictine ( a double shot), add hot water (1 shot), honey (1tsp) and a splash of lemon juice! The cracked block I reckon could be welded but would need some care to preheat and post heat it. I doubt anyone would offer any guarantee if they would take the job on? Budget approximately £450 plus carriage. The welding rods for cast iron are very expensive, gas for warming and post heat cool down would use a lot of gas. Then add the slow process of welding and peening and you have ponder if it is worth keeping an old block? It is quite a big job. Top stuff on that Land Rover young man!

Cheers pal!that sounds like a good recipe 😋 if I can't find a cost effective way they will eventually go to scrap apparently the hot spots would be an easier repair using new linners but I need to do more investigation 🙂👍

Nice, sounds sweet. Looks like you are running probe type glow plugs (I am)... you dont need the resistor as these are 12v items.

Thank you! Yeah I'm using the newer style the resistor is still in place just to keep it looking original but it's not used. 🙂👍

Good to hear you came out fine 🙂 I get the herd immunity theory but it makes me think if I've had it this bad with it what would it be like without but everyone reacts differently to it. 🤞 hopefully I'll be back at it soon. 🙂👍

@@retro.restorations If you’re healthy and not obese, you’ll be fine. The vaccine is not working. The efficacy rate is tanking! My immune system is 27x better
