Great video, I went on a LR Experience with the new Defender it was a great car but I found the faffing about with the 4x4 settings made things extra busy whilst off roading. The getting out of the car is very common whilst green laning to open and close gates.... as well as saving squirrels.. :-)

Very helpful video. The challenge is remembering which buttons to press in the stressful moment when the vehicle is hanging over the edge of a cliff, or when suddenly encountering some deep sticky mud. I suppose the ‘Auto’ setting is going to be the most reliable setting for coping with a dynamically changing terrain..

Yes the Auto button is good but it only reacts to what it has already seen - the drive can react and select terrain response to suit what is coming up !

Just made a 500 mile drive in snow and ice and i wasn't impressed (although it wasn't awful) with the way my '22 defender 110 P400 handled the slippery roads. Watched this video, put it in auto and well...the difference was quite obvious. I assumed the ridiculous amount i paid for the terrain response 2 would automatically select the best mode - had no idea i had to select auto first.

Yes TR2 ( Auto ) is only on when selected - apparently for emissions the car must default to standard mode so cannot just be in AUTO all the time - although this would actually be a good plan !

from the Defender2.net forum: "Someone from the infotainment and UI development team at JLR replied on FB to my query about the above issue (the TR always defaulting back to Comfort mode after an ignition cycle.) It's an emissions testing requirement (not sure in which country - probably more than one.) The rules mandate that a vehicle always has to start in the same conditions used for such tests. So, there. It's something we'll have to learn to live with."

You said your default mode is comfort. Is it possible to change the default mode to something like Mud and Ruts, and if so would it then not default to Mud and Ruts in the event of a squirrel rescue procedure?

What happens if you’re in Configurable TR and get out to help the squirrel, does it stay in CTR?? Is CTR suited for off-road only or can I make this the Daily Drive profile?

Great video, may i ask What’s the different between Advanced off road capability pack?
@L663

Yes the off road capability pack means the car basically chooses which terrain response mode you should be in by itself... as such there is not any extra differential etc ( as i understand it )

Quick two questions, how do you have ATPC on an S model variant without the rear locker? Do you think it's possible to have ATPC fitted after delivery of the vehicle has taken place? Thanks for the content
@L663
3 жыл бұрын
Hi Zac ... i am not sure but it may be because i added the off road capability pack ? I think that ATPC could be added in software but Land Rover will not do this... I did ask .. they are very keen to keep the vehicles in "original specification" but i think they could mis out on a lot of potential income / customer engagement.

For off-roading, less wheel spin is much better than more wheel spin...so would less wheel spin allow for better traction vs off-road mode?
@ubonfante
3 жыл бұрын
Not necessarily, and it depends on situation and terrain. Picking "Less wheel spin" ultimately means ETC (Traction Control) would kick in sooner whenever it senses one or more of your wheels start to lose traction. That could be helpful under some off-road scenarios, but in many instances the early intervention of the ETC "nanny" to limit wheel spin could actually kill momentum when, say, attempting to climb a slippery (wet, sandy, etc.) slope, causing you to bog down instead of overpowering the slope and making it to the top.
