On Monday June 24, 2024 Texas Master Naturalist, Hill Country Chapter hosted a presentation by Rufus Stephens, long-time champion of land stewardship in Texas. The topic of Mr. Stephen's talk was on "Land Stewardship for Birds". In his presentation he explained how to evaluate land, both city lot to rural acreage and determine the practical steps needed to preserve and enhance habitat for our beautiful Hill Country birds. The talk covered some examples of the need for cover, food and water that resident, migratory and over-wintering birds need to thrive and raise their young. He also emphasized the ways that the public can help shrinking bird populations recover in the face of growing development in the Hill Country.
