I live outside of Atlanta. I love this video. Shows just how scenic and green Atlanta is. Someone I know made the comment that Atlanta is the largest city built in a forest. This video pretty much completely proves his statement correct. The scenery is beautiful, the music ia beautiful, calm, and relaxing, and the added info is a great touch. Informative and relaxing. It wasn't until the view of 285 in relation to the runway became clear, that I realized the approach was from the east side of the city. Then, when 27L was shown, it confirmed what I already knew. Great video, well done. Thanks!

I first flew into ATL on a Delta DC-3 from SAV. The terminal was a wooden building. Captain brought me up to the cockpit before takeoff and pinned some wings on me. I was 12 years old - about 1951. Many visits since then and I have navigated all of the ensuing terminals. Things have really changed in 70 years. Thanks for the video.

I could only dream that flying into KATL in the 80s as a young 25 yr old pilot was so peaceful!! I flew banking documents/light freight into Hartsfield late night in Mu-2s/Commanders/404s when all the big birds were coming home to roost. Non stop atc Speed talking, keep your speed up, no deviations +- 100ft or miss a call 2x and you were thrown to the back of the line. Maybe a L-1011/747 close in trail "keep your speed up" atc stresses. "Make your 1st right." Not really a option or get ran over. Right over the numbers your throw out full flaps, force the nose down, carrier landing and then make the turn only to see these massive lights bathe you and then watch those beast roar past. Some times I spent the night sleeping on conveyor belts eating out of vending machines. Ah the glamour of being a freight dog.

Atlanta's greenery is truly awesome to see from the air! One would never know you're in a metropolis of over 7 million people. I live in Los Angeles and I wish we had just a fraction of those trees here in Southern California to look at when landing instead of wall-to-wall concrete. Great video. P.S. -- I enjoyed the music in the background. It lends a mood to the video as one gazes out the cockpit window watching the scenery pass by. Good job!

Awesome View, ATL is the Airport I travel from and I've been on flights landing there hundreds of times but never with a view lke this. I am constantly amazed at the Efficiency of ATL. They move maybe thousands of people per hour, but the Terminal is very clearly marked and navigable. I rarely feel like it's extremely crowded or inconvienient except maybe before major holidays and even then it's not that bad because they staff for those. I would actually pick it as my favorite large Airport even if I didn't live in the Atlanta area.

For years the airport was called, 'Hartsfield' after former mayor William B Hartsfield who was responsible for an expansion of the field. In 2003, they added the name 'Jackson' after another former mayor, Maynard Jackson, who oversaw a huge expansion/redesign of the airport, including the 'midfield' terminal, which placed the terminals and gates between the (at the time) 4 runways. The 5th runway was added later, and is on the other side of the multi-lane highway (I-285) the plane flies over just prior to landing.
