You can hear real well through the lines. I can hear someone working on them probably a mile away. No problem. Little pings and taps.

I’ve never seen a woman working live power lines or climbing those tall AF antennas. If a woman can do this, fine, pay her what these guys get, but for some reason it’s a guy thing. Not too many lady tree trimmers in those cherry picker crane buckets either.

Did you go to lineman college?
@MrRobertarvine
11 күн бұрын
No I did not. But I got in the apprenticeship 13 years ago. I worked as a Groundman for a few years and interviewed twice. When I got in I was ranked 73 out of 200+ applicants. They said out of the people who didn’t go to lineman college less than 10% get in. I’m under the impression that if you are looking to be a lineman the school is the way to go. It’s money well spent if you get in. If I could have afforded it I would have been better off going. They give you some valuable tools to understand the trade that experience as a Groundman can’t. But Groundman experience I valuable in its own right.

you take toilet paper up with you just incase. otherwise you just let it go. not a big deal. I'm surprised on how many people are curious about this kind of thing.
@segfault8024

MrRobertarvine because people don't know the proper ways of using the restroom. Only do they know, we are all animals, and you see animals could care less where they do their business, although taking a shit is more likely uncommon. If you're up in the sky, taking a shit would be the last thing you'd ever think about doing, as you wouldn't need to shit during that situation. That doesn't mean you can eat tacos and not shit, but eat tacos before knowing you'll have that job the next day. Btw, being an electrician seems fun. Something I'd love to do.

the hight breaks up the stream. its a de-energized line but induction is a huge problem. I'm sure if i had a solid stream and i was bare skin on a line with high induction id get hit. possibly killed.
