I was thinking about connecting the 4" overflow pipe to the flow-well itself but your suggestion is very practical and makes more sense. I appreciate your help.

Hi Kyle! Yes, you are correct, in order for the Pop Up Emitter to function correctly the emitter should be installed lower than the elbow. If corrugated pipe is being used pipe should be installed with a 2% slope. If smooth wall PVC pipe is being used it should be installed with a 1% slope.

The bottom of the catch basin has a cut out where one of the universal outlets can be connected. All of the 3” & 4” Universal Adapters will fit 4” schedule 40 pipe. A small section of schedule 40 pipe can be used to connect the catch basin to the lid of the Flo-Well. 4” Pipe can also be used to connect a Pop-Up Emitter to the Flo-Well. This system will be most effective if the Flo-Well is installed in permeable soil where the water will quickly percolate into the ground. .

Additionally, please ensure that the Pop-Up Emitter must is installed at an elevation lower than the elevation of the grate on the catch basin, or the overflow water will drain out of the catch basin, not the Pop-Up Emitter. Hope this was helpful!

Dig to water table on a wet week. Backfill 2 feet over high water table. Hole diameter 4 feet. Fill w/ gravel. Inlet pipe ( from curtain drain ) into gravel. Outlet overfill below inlet, and this to a sewage pump. This will keep you dry. Absolutely dry, 100%.

In Toronto the temperature in winter can be as low as minus 25 degrees celsius. What will happen when the contents of the flo well freezes solid? I'm afraid the water from the downspout will back up and freeze in the pipe and downspout damaging both. Have flo wells been installed in areas which experience cold winters.

It'll just freeze then thaw. There's nowhere for pressure to build up and by the time the ground gets cold the water would have drained.

Thanks for your comment. Although using a propane tank might seem like a cheap alternative, cutting into it is extremely dangerous. Not only could there still be gas left over, propane tanks are metal and can rust, break down and possibly collapse over time. Our Flo-Well is made from 100% recycled plastic and allows storm water to filter naturally, reducing pollutants and offering important environmental benefits. i have an older home with an aging septic system. the present dry well that we have no longer absorbs water. i think this was because of the fact that our home, although in the city, is not on city sewage. therefore the former owners ran the sink drain, the clothes washer drain, and the basement sump pump to this well, two years after we bought and moved in we noticed on a winter day that there was ice in the back yard resulting from the dry well backing up through the ground. since then we have been over working our septic by having all drains directed to our septic, I've been researching a solution to my problem, i think this may be it. However, i think i would like to use 3 flo wells stacked, and installed as you direct, but then to have my sump pump, clothes washer, shower, and kitchen sink put into the flo well.,,,,,,,,,any thoughts?????
@Ndspro

If your current dry well is no longer absorbing water it might be time to clean or replace it. Over the years dry wells will fill with sediment which sounds like what happened to yours and the Flo Well could be your solution. One Flo Well will hold about 50 gallons as water percolates back into the ground. If the flo well is encased in 12” of ¾” stone ( bottom and sides) the system (flo well with ¾” stone) will hold about 150 gallons of water. If you install 3 flo well encased in ¾” stone you will have a storage capacity of 450 gallons. Since, you have the sink, washer and sump pump all going to the same location I would recommend installing at least 5 flo wells encased in stone for a storage capacity of 750 gallons. Your washer will drain about 30 gallons of water per cycle. Do you know how much water pumps from the sump pump?

Can this be used alone without connecting to downspouts? I have terrible ponding in my backyard during periods of heavy rain and it takes several days to dry out. It has recently rained for over a week where I live and though we haven't had any rain for two days the yard is still soggy. The standing water is down but it is still very wet. My husband and I are thinking about installing this dry well alone in the central location of the ponding area.

Teresa Higginbotham Hello Teresa! We think a Flo Well would work great for your situation and it can most certainly be used alone. You can simply put it in a low area of your yard and use the inlet grate on top to help drain the standing water.

Hello! Thanks for reaching out. Flo-Well should not be used in an area with a high water table. The open space in this product will just fill with water and won't be effective. We have two french drain products, EZflow and EZ-Drain that would be the best option to collect water and carry it to a discharge point. We have a very informative french drain guide that can help educate you on the benefits of french drains: www.ndspro.com/french-drain-guide/ If you have any specific questions regarding your project, please don't hesitate to reach out to our technical services department: techservices@ndspro.com

I gues it would be good if that tank could be manualy emptied, so if you need water for watering the plants or something like that, you could use the water from the tank, and if not just pull the stick and empty the tank. This way it would be more economical, nature friendly and usefull

Thanks for your comment. Although the FloWell's primary function is for containing excess water from your yard, slowly allowing it to percolate back into the ground, it can also be used as a water storage container though not at the same time since FloWell is buried underground! Hope that helps clarify some additional benefits of the FloWell.

Can this work in heavy clay soils?
@Ndspro
9 жыл бұрын
Yes, these drainage solutions will work in heavy clay soils. However, one must take into consideration that the water will percolate slower and your system must be designed to accommodate this. For example, increasing area of backfill, adding more flo-wells and using a pop up emitter as an overflow option. Please don't hesitate to contact Dr. Drainage for any further questions at drdrainage@ndspro.com.

this isn't any different than any other basement/landscape company.. it's a packaged product for sale across the country. they show engineered video of what they think happens and say it's too expensive to dig. when in reality water goes where it wants and digging costs the price of a shovel. but then you'll get the run around that they can't guarantee the work LOL
