I wanted to thank you. Your landscape advice has done so much to improve my bird photography. I was Too focused on the bird… on getting closer.. feeling the path to better pictures was a new lens with a mythical focal length. Yesterday, a particularly friendly chickadee was eating out of my wife’s hand. I took the 400 off and took a few shoots with the 50-140. Wouldn’t have done that without your influence. Thank you.

Andy you are one of the best - if not THE best - contemporary landscape photographers. I can’t believe that your channel only has 80k subscribers while other clowns fighting over gear have millions.

Great video and good advice on gear. Many years ago I fell into the habit of putting my headlamp on around my neck once it became late afternoon. Stays out of the way until you need it and you're not fumbling in the dark when you do.

Hello Andy, thank you very much for all your videos! You always get to the point analytically, and only talk about the essence of the topic without long ramblings. You helped me a lot with the composition of landscape pictures. Unfortunately, I don't have such a grandiose landscape on my doorstep. But your tips are also helpful for less spectacular shots! Keep it up....

Always enjoy your videos Andy, the knowledge you pass on is very much appreciated. The examples of adding depth to the images made me go back and look at how I could improve some of my images, great tip. Sometimes we forget about the Benefits of shoot in adverse weather conditions, creating mood is I really appealing. Many thanks and will look forward to seeing some of your images from Italy, safe travels.

Thanks Andy, excellent tips. On your upcoming field videos, could you go into some detail about where you are focusing your shots and when you are needing to focus stack? I'm always amazed how sharp your images are front to back. I'm using the same gear and I intermittently struggle with this. Looking forward to your photos from Italy.
@AndyMumford

Thanks so much. I'll make a point to talk about focus in the videos. I don't actually focus stack many of my images, it's not really necessary with APS-C because the depth of field is so great

It's terrific to encourage one to use the weather you actually have, but then you go on to give examples of the easy conditions, rain and fog. Showing how to use harsh midday sunlight, would have been more helpful...

Well, it's rare that I shoot in bright sunny light...the places where I shoot are rarely sunny. It is something that can be done though, but I find specific editing is needed for those kind of images. Blue skies look really bad, so converting to black and white with a red filter gives black skies, and in scene with strong contrasts of light and shadow it can work. For more even light, I'll be looking to move the blues to steely greys, and make the colours in the landscape dominate more

Wow, what is that at 2:13? A lake of cooling lava?
@AndyMumford
2 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much. That image is a salt lake. The salt expands and pushes up ridges between the cracks, and for a few moments at sunset, when the light is horizontal, the tops of the salt ridges catch the light

Glad you enjoyed the video. The microphone is fine, a Blue Yeti recorded directly into Audition and then synced with the video. There's De-reverb applied, but it's a big room with high ceilings, so there's always an echo.

Hi Andy, do you coach photogarphers around licensing and publishing? I'm looking for sources of advice and guidance specifically on monetizing images I already have, and image I'm going to create in the future. I'm also wondering if you have any videos on KZitem on this topic. Thanks in advance! I really enjoy your content.
@AndyMumford

Hi Brent. I don’t do any coaching on the topic, and it’s not something I’ve made a video on. Every photographer has a different path when it comes to creating revenue streams, but it’s a topic I get asked a lot and something I’ ll almost certainly cover in a future video
