I hope you've gotten those little guys in the ground. They'll take off i have to say you have quite a collection. One good thing about them being potted if a late frost happens you can move them. Japanese maples are very addictive!

Some of them have been planted. Others are still in the pots. I keep them in my garage for the winter and water them once or twice a month during the dormant period. As I continue to develop my landscape, I have been planting these out, but it takes a while and I have had a lot to do to fix my yard. In the meantime I enjoy them being able to move around. It's funny how differently they behave in sun or shade depending on what they prefer. Fun!

@@outerlimitless Japanese maples are very addictive ironically i just checked mine for freeze damage they don't seem to like wind and single digits lol. Mine are in the ground so i can't put em in the garage. Considering i just pulled all my not yet planted and clients things outta my garage now that the ridiculous cold is over. I understand about it taking time lol its a work in progress and chances are always will be! Mine is anyway but I'm a plant hoarder so I'm always changing things.

I started a backyard nursery about a decade ago. Eventually sold my property with literally 3,000 baby shrubs in bed rows. But when I left I made sure to take all my trees. I've brought them all around with me...like my little kids!

Good stuff, like what you are doing with the trees. Thumbs up from me. ;-)

Thanks! I've had these for years...just kind of learning how they grow and learning to shape them. It's very interesting to see how they change over time, and it's a challenge to keep them healthy, but I'm gaining a lot of knowledge! Thanks for watching!

Nice collection I'm just getting into Japanese maples a couple of coral barks & a red dragon I live in Texas & it's going to be a challenge, any tips for the heat?

Awesome! The Red Dragon should be able to take a bunch of heat without too much difficulty, but most Japanese Maples don't like sun for the whole day. If you have these in pots still, you can experiment with moving them around to different locations for a couple months at a time. You'll likely find that the coral barks have heat damage on the leaves if you keep them in direct sunlight all day...especially in the middle of the summer. That is often true with loby green leaf varieties and some thread leaf too. I have a Crimson Queen that gets sun for the later 80% of the day. By the end of the summer it bronzes on me and starts go to greenish...not exactly what you want out of a red tree, but it in the location that I want it in, so I don't really have a choice. My best suggestion is to experiment while they're in pots, but don't forget that the pots will dry out quickly...so be diligent about watering them.
