No dpubt that Bella is gifted but listening to her mother shows that many other children could learn in the same way. Her mother's methods are very sound and as babies pick up languages naturally it's the best time to reach them.

so if the mom would not put so much effort into her, Bella would speak so many languages coz she is gifted? Forget the word GIFTED, any skill takes a lot of work but first the right program and system.

Amazing! What in inspiration! I also think that because she learned to learn new languages early she has gotten the skill of easily learning other languages. Bella is truly gifted and Yulia's passion and dedication is very admirable.

Yulia Devyatkina - I really enjoyed your presentation! Not only have you surrounded your daughter Bella with a language-rich environment, but you have also invested a lot of your time surrounding her with play-based rich educational manipulatives (loved the bugs!) and prepared many flash cards, books etc yourself. I taught my eldest son to read before the age of two, but it never occurred to me to teach him other languages, except to write Japanese numerals at age 4 (only because he was so bored waiting to start school, and I'd run out of ideas). If only I had thought to teach him other languages all those years ago like you, or even homeschooled for that matter! In retrospect he says nearly his entire formal education was dull, and wished he was homeschooled by me instead 😁, so it will be interesting how Bella goes with formal high school, if you still choose to do that. These days I'm teaching my youngest special-needs child to read - English only 😜- but am using play-based homemade learning manipulatives like you've done with Bella. Congratulations for your intelligent, well-thought out strategies and commitment to your child, Yulia! 🎉 Of course, none of this would have happened if you weren't passionate about foreign languages to begin with 😁💕 Cheers, Julie

Russian language teachers were nicely trained to teach the Russian language. I learned the Russian language when no smell of software or computer in 1974. my Russian language teacher, one who spoke English and other German. after one month my 2nd teacher came(who can speak German) and they divided the group into 2 groups and we were from Bangladesh and we were 17 students. I was the youngest at that time just 16 plus. We all went to study engineering. I chose the teacher who spoke German. after some days the first teachers did not speak with us in English, because we will not learn Russian. Then our language school introduces Physics, math, and history with the appropriate teachers. our Physics and math teacher did not know any other language except Russian and Ukrainian(We were in a Ukrainian city of the soviet union). In 10 months our preparation for further study finished. I started my electrical eng. in the Russian language with the Russians and we had Finnish, Vietnamese, and One Mongolian students in our class. I and my friend from Bangladesh were the best in the Russian language among the foreigners. Both Vietnamese and Finns had difficulty understanding the Russian language, but they slowly improved. They were not as fluent as we 3 Bangladeshi. I used English to Russian dictionary if I did not understand the Russian words. if I did not understand the English words, it has explanation and synonym in English. I knew English not bad but wasn't fluent in English in speaking, but I knew many words in English. I can read and write anything needed, but did not understand much English and American accents. But after 3 years I visited England and worked in the summer in an Indian restaurant as a waiter(trainee) and within 2-3 days I was able to work in Bar and taking orders from the customers easily and learn English languages from the customers and our other waiters. How I learn to speak English well. Both I and my friend did the best in the Russian language in the institute, where we studied electrical engineering. At the age of 33, I landed in Montreal, where Bella and her family came here. after coming to Montreal I and my wife admitted to French language school in the evening and weekend with other foreigners starting from 16 to 80 years old. I studied French for 4 years and I found that it was difficult to learn french, because of my age, still, I did the best among those immigrants, because the immigrants are not much educated. Russian grammar and French grammar are very similar and it helped me. I studied Arabic in high school in Bangladesh and I could read and write and know many Arabic words, but can't speak. it was only 3 years in high school we studied Arabic for 45 min two or 3 times a week. After that never studied Arabic. still, I remember after 48 years how to write and read Arabic(ok). I understand french well and sometimes read or listen to the news(Canadian french news.) French in Canada is not the same language. since 1994 children or adults can learn languages with the help of video and computer. I bought CD for my 2 and half years old daughter and she played with the English and French languages(we were in Vancouver) and she learned English and Russian(we spoke at home) when she is 3 years old, but she did not learn french anymore until in high school. Bella's Mom is a very good teacher and she has patients and invested huge time to teach Bella languages and spent money to hire those teachers for Bella. Congratulation Yulia, Babushka, and dad, and all the best.

This video also proves that you don't have to be special or this kind of "prodgy" kids to master something, you just need to be programmed well, btw, that's how our brain works.

Babies want attention, and therefore when you teach them, they think that you’re playing with them so they enjoy it. If you’re patient and can keep playing/teaching the babies then they will learn quickly. However, most parents let the babies play by themselves. I am just wondering if she will be able to remember all those languages in the future. I was born and raised in France. I have some friends who moved to the US from France at the age of 7 or 8. When I met them again, they were around 16-17 and couldn’t speak French anymore. They could understand it but not speak it.

I'm in Australia too and my child can speak 2 languages properly, second language she was with her grandparents nearly 3 months and I found that she can speak second language properly. Now she is learning Spanish from childcare. And I'm so happy I found this video clip. I cannot do same as the kid does because I'm too old. Even English is still difficult for me to speak and write fluently. Kids are great opportunities to learn languages.
