That's a cool idea! Do you think it affect the machines performance? I believe epoxy is approximately 1/3 the weight of concrete.

The accessories add up quick! I noticed Langmuir offers Affirm on their website. I signed up with Affirm and purchased 2 items from Apple, 3 monthly payments no interest. hope that is available for Langmuir.

Hows the machine working out. Was thinking of buying this one or Tormach 440
@worknplayusa
Жыл бұрын
They have delayed shipment of all MR-1 Machines due to a problem with the spindle. The new ship date they gave is November 7 through November 20. Once I have the machine I will do a assembly video and a ton of machining videos. From what I know the Tormach 440 is a great machine but has a smaller envelope in the X and Y axis but has more in the z-axis.

Where did you get the cable for the flood coolant control box if you don’t order it from Langmuir
@worknplayusa
Жыл бұрын
I am currently out of the country and haven’t opened the controller yet but to my best knowledge it is a female GX-12-2 connector more commonly known as an aviation connector. if it’s not GX-12-2 it’s GX-12-3 The last number refers to how many leads in the connector. I will definitely let you know but will not be back till the first week of January. The relay comes with the Phoenix connector.

I really do not see a reason why flood coolant and PC cannot be on the same breaker. The amperage to drive either is not that much.

I agree! I am only going by manufacturers recommendations, ones I have the machine I will do a video with actual amperage draw for each component.

Dude I get so damn hyped up every time I see one of your videos. I really need to get my company to buy me one of these! If I may ask, how is the quality of your preassembled units? Should I be concerned with the coplanarity or precision of it compared to making it myself?

Thanks for the kind words (I think they were meant for Langmuir)! I am a fan of what they are doing and put this video out to see if there was a audience that would appreciate a outsider's opinion. I should receive my MR-1 in the next few weeks and will do a assembly video detailing how close (or better) the regular guy can get from the kit. I have no real experience with machining but have been in the 3-D printing world for two years and last winter a built a open builds router table that I am using as a plasma table.

You can't use (2) separate Main Power supplies to any machine you need to rethink this as this will create a Ground loop, so just use the (1) 240v Main Power Supply and split it up for whatever the rest of the machine needs.
@mactec54
2 жыл бұрын
@Jobotics You would only get a dumb answers like this if it comes from a none qualified person, this is very stupid to do something like this, you should be using ( 1) 240v 4 wire supply then you have both 240v and 120v from the same source this is how it's done ask an industrial electrician even most residential electricians would know also, you can't use multiple Ac main power supplies for (1) machine just plain dumb
@worknplayusa
2 жыл бұрын
I appreciate the input Jobbotics and Mactec54! I am not a electrician but do have basic electrical and controls experience, is it possible I am using incorrect terminology causing the confusion? In my house and in most homes will have one main supply coming in from the grid going to a circuit breaker panel (in my case I also have a subpanel in the garage), Langmuir recommends using dedicated circuit breakers for the spindle, system controller and computer coming from your main panel or in my case my subpanel.
@mactec54
2 жыл бұрын
@Jobotics This has nothing to do with optocouplers
@mactec54
2 жыл бұрын
@@worknplayusa No that is incorrect there would be (1) main Breaker for the power supply in your sub panel to the machine, in the cabinet of the machine you would have a Breaker for each circuit for the VFD Drive / Power supply Etc. so from the sub panel you need a 4 wire cable going to your machine this will be used for everything your machine needs
@mactec54
2 жыл бұрын
@Jobotics Just a simple answer Ground Loop You have 3 separate Ground wires you can only have (1) check electrical code requirements, you guys should not be doing this electrical work, and Langmuir should not be saying to do it like this.

Companies still take a low end product slap their name of it and charge 3 times more. Their expensive product should atleast never look the same as a competing low end product.
