Odd that you say you should charge to 100%. I read that you should only charge to 80%.

Well when your laptop batteries only last maybe 30 minutes and people have continuous school work and times test, you have to keep it plugged in during us as to not auto fail your test

Well leaving at 100 does reduce battery life So charging upto 80 is better and never let it go below 20 The problem is most laptop manufacturers don't include a limiter to the charge so it's always topped off Most of the time they prefer you use up the battery completely so that they get good reviews for having good battery life But after degradation your stuck with a weak battery and they just say to replace it
@JohnDeere_Simulations

These are all wrong facts when you get a new replacement battery you should always fully charge the battery and discharge it four times or more to extend the battery capacity I have been studying batteries and I found this to be true and you should always if you have the old battery in your laptop you could always charge it 40 to 80% because that’ll add cycles to the battery that you can use and it will extended the life expectancy of the battery some battery’s have 500 to 1000 cycles dependents on the battery every battery is different also never go from 0 to 100% because that or wear the battery out faster I usually go to 50 to 40% to 80 on my iPad to save the battery. This is true for laptop batteries to do to them having a lithium ion battery in fact, any lithium ion battery.

So if it's convenient for me to keep my laptop plugged in all the time I should do it and that would be the best for battery health and lifespan?
@Pixels...

In dell optimizer under batter then under custom you can limit the highest percent the batter will charge to I recommend you set it to 80% as it is generally agreed this is good for batter life.
@Pixels...

I would also decrease the "charge when at __%" to the minimum so the battery goes through less charge/discharge cycles.
@CyberSonic157

So then what happens if your battery reaches its set max percent and your charger is still plugged in? Will it discharge? Or will it always stay at that percentage?@@Pixels...
@Pixels...
9 ай бұрын
@@CyberSonic157 The battery will stay at the same percentage until it discharges just by just existing (I don't know how to stop this and I'm not sure if it's even possible), and it won't recharge until it reaches the "Charge when at __%". Which I why I recommended to decrease the "Charge when at__%" so that would recharge itself less and go through less battery cycles. Edit: at least the battery shouldn't recharge itself until it reaches the correct percentage, but you'd have to check if the battery slowly loses charge after a while, it means it's not recharging itself unless it immediately recharges itself before it reaches the "Charge when at __%"

I have a question for high preformance laptops that have software and hardware and are available for over clocking I have a 55watts battery and extra 2,5 inch sata slot which I do not intend to use. Is it possible to install a higher Watts battery without frying the motherboard and will I need some kind of a software to regulate this is it possible. I mean the PSU on desktops you can install a 1000 PSU laptops are a bit different but is it possible without causing a damage to the device?.

Maybe it needs to be formatted before using If it's showing in device manager go to disk management and see if it needs to be formatted or not If it's not showing in device manager it means that there is either no connection ti the hdd or theres no power going through the hdd
