Great videos. Two air layers on the same branch? Is that what I'm seeing here? Did that work? If that does work I have been wasting a lot of time. Haha

Amazing video. I have many oaks that I want to air layer. What climate zohr do you live in? Did you put the new tree in a greenhouse for one season to develop roots? What kind of soul did you use? How do you get nebari for air layered trees? Thx in advance! Inspiring 😅

That is amazing! Can't believe it grew all those roots from almost nothing! Did you use rooting hormone or keep it in a greenhouse?

I used rooting hormone initially but I am not sure how much of a difference it actually makes. No greenhouse but I was mostly shaded and watered a couple times per day.

Excellent. I will try some new trees with renewed hope next year. What time of year did you start this airlayer? It looks like there are some lovely trees in your Bonsai collection, feel free to show them off!!! Happy Bonsaiing

I don't recall. I actually had to do this one twice as with the first attempt, the bark grew back completely. I ended up extending the air layer a couple more inches so I could observe if the bark was growing back. I am still comparing spring vs fall starts of air layering. I am starting a whole bunch now to see how fall/late summer works out.

@@backyardbonsai3605 any further tips after your large oak experiments? I read several times that you need to cut the area twice to make it root over a long period

Hey Nancy, can I ask you something? After you cut it from the tree, did you plant it to the pot with bonsai soil already, or with spagnum moss? And if spagnum moss, how long before you plant it with bonsai soil. I am in the middle of of it and my tree has lots of roots already and it is still with spagnum moss. I appreciate your response. I am one of you many subscribers, and always waiting for you video. Thanks, Mel
