NORTH LINDENHURST, NEW YORK - Persistent wind gusts battering Long Island overnight caused a large tree branch to come crashing down on parked cars early Thursday morning.
Before 6:30AM, strong wind gusts resulted in a sizable tree branch snapping and crashing down onto parked cars on Catskill Avenue near 51st Street. Wires were pulled down in the process as the large branch fell.
The cars were unoccupied at the time of the incident.
The North Lindenhurst Fire Department and Suffolk County Police responded to the scene.
There were no reported injuries.
Catskill Avenue remained shut down while crews worked to clear the debris and wires from the street. It has since been reopened.
The National Weather Service reports that the area was impacted by wind gusts up to 35mph.
