It is an awesome Hobby Shop. Anything you could want is there. Like you said , " if you don't see it & it is available, they will order it for you". Not only is the staff friendly & helpful. They are knowledgeable of the products they sell. This is a rare commodity in today's retail world. Thanks for the tour Tim. Like you said, " video does not do it justice". So for anyone watching, if you are visiting the Atlanta area, do yourself a favor and make time to visit this store. It is very impressive to say the least. Thanks again Tim.

They are in my backyard and try my best to support them. Nothing like walking into a hobby shop and seeing something in person vs online. Just like the old days. Thanks for taking the time to visit and video the place. Sorry however, 2-3 minutes in was about the only thing of interest to me. Yet I wasn't all that impressed with their automotive kit selection either. Nearly everything on their shelf I can get locally. Diecast cars later on was also not much. Maybe this place gets on-line sales nationwide for all those other departments, but I can't see much sales to justify all this in a hobby shop. And the prices of model kits lately! It's beyond being a fun hobby when you start pulling out wads of 20's to buy 2-3 kits, or a 50 to pay for one item. It's just molded plastic!

Growing up in the late 1960’s to mid 1970’s we had two hobby shops in my town in Delaware County PA, plus one $5 & $10…Saving our allowance, we were always excited to go and buy model plane, ship, and WWII diorama kits and all the hobby paints, glues, x-acto knives, and such. I kinda miss those days. I was a stickler for detailing every model and even painted the pilot’s eyes and uniforms.

Since the pandemic the Evergreen and Plastruct products are hard to come by in this store. The employees are helpful and not pushy. I use to go to this place when it was a movie Theater. The only draw back is their model Railroad section is not that great there are better ones in the Atlanta area for that. Great video. I'm a two-time US champion in the Gunpla Builders World Cup (GBWC) and creator of a waterslide decal line (Mecha Decals) that just went into the Hobby Town catalog this week. I'm also hoping to go to Atlanta at the beginning of the new year, so I might have to stop by and say hi. The Gundam building community is definitely growing in the US, but still pales in comparison to most Asian countries. I've been to Tokyo twice for the GBWC World Championships and the hobby stores over there are the size of grocery stores here in the states. It's pretty amazing. Our IPMS presence is also getting much bigger and better too. You can find Gundam tables overflowing with entries. It's great to see. The creative freedom you have with these kits is beyond compare and they're a ton of fun. I highly recommend taking one and giving it the full treatment. You'll end up wish something really cool. :)

The Revell 1969 Camaro SS 396 kit on one of the end caps I just finished a few days ago. Wonder Woman is next (for my wife). If you are looking it up on GPS it's on Barrett Parkway in Kennesaw, Ga. About 5 miles from my home. Yes, it used to be a multiplex. Saw Jurassic Park for the first time in 1993!

They must have built this after I left Atlanta. I think he’s talking about the biggest one in Binghamton ny. It’s not a hobby town but it’s mostly Rc with 3 huge dirt tracks. Small Addiction RC

I do like this store! I was disappointed when the one in Brea went out of business. But when I moved to Nebraska, there were two here in the greater Omaha area! Good ones! They have great kits, paints and building supplies. Friendly people too.

This place has been around forever! I graduated high school in 2001 and i remember going there in 97-98, maybe they changed the name or different owners but same store.

So true Ed, they have been around for a while. From what I've been told they are the same owners and name since they took over the movie theater. I know the workers in there were SUPER nice and friendly so that defiantly helps out on keeping the doors open! 🙂

I have talked with the owner of Hobbytown and was told the store with the indoor dirt track is located in Chattanoga. the fellow you are talking to in this video is Bert, the second most knowledgeable guy in the model dept. Kevin is probably first. I go down there about once a month. I actually live in Cassville, about an hr. north of there.

That's a good question Geoffrey. As far as a store goes I would not know where to look for those other then a Flea Market store or maybe a HobbyTown. (Hopefully someone will chime in with a suggestion). Another option would be Craig's List. Craig's List is set up for all of the U.S. and people list all kids of stuff for sale. Just get on Craig's List, put in the area you want and the Items your looking for. I've bought off Craig's List and it's pretty popular here.

The dirt course hobbytown is over by Lincoln, Ne. I've probably been to 30+ hobbytown stores from the west coast to the Midwest, non of them I'd ever give the time or money to. The whole company is a joke- the typical "we can order it online" b.s. get ridiculous over time. I can buy what I need online for usually 30-70% less then their prices. They killed a lot of mom and pop hobby shops... most hobbytown stores are over glorified toy stores with a half ass assortment of "hobby" related items... 80% of it being rc junk. I miss real hobby shops- it's the times we live in though.

Get yourself a flight simulator before you try flying an RC plane and hang out at your local flying field ask plenty of questions and when you do decide to fly have a buddy standing next to you that can fly just in case you have to hand the radio off or have a buddy box
