Larry grew up playing street ball with a group of black guys that worked at a restaurant in his hometown. Did you know the Twitter bird is named after Larry? Watch his trash talking videos & there’s also one showing how he played hurt. Amazing guy!

Larry's teammates loved playing with him. Bill Walton said "We couldn't wait to get out there." McHale will start telling stories, Birdie this and Birdie that. M.L. Carr said "If you got in trouble just get the ball to Larry". McHale's hotdog story is probably my favorite Larry Bird story ever.
Bird had quick eyes, quick hands and a quick mind.

Those "no look" passes required total faith in his teammates. He trusted them for sure.

At one point one of the commentators says “ isn’t that beautiful?” He’s a right on the money. It’s beautiful because it comes so naturally to him. I could never imagine being able to do anything like that, especially at that fast pace. Bird is one in a million… A gift to all of us who love watching the game of basketball.

Larry had his entire team knowing that in a split second he could put the ball in their hands and they could score. Invaluable to have the whole team that alert for 4 quarters.

As incredible as these passes were, Larry Bird's greatest passes were never even recorded on video. Great reaction bro!

This video has a lot of great footage. It is in fact an updated version of an earlier Bird passing compilation video with additional footage added. 👍. kzitem.info/news/bejne/2K2lmqqqmoyepo4 Check it out 🙂

I played basketball during highschool and university, for me Larry "Legend" Bird was the dictionary definition of a "team player". It was never all about Larry, it was always all about the win and he truly understood the win was a team effort. His style of play made his team mstes look great and made the opposing team (often) look stupid. IMO, Larry had the highest IQ of any player before, during or since. Love, love, love watching him play basketball chess while everyone else was playing snakes and ladders.

Agree with you totally. The more I see of his play the more details come through. He seems to be doing more than one thing for the team at all times. He drives under the basket looking like he's going for a layup drawing the heat to himself. Then, instead, he passes off to a teammate. AND at the same moment he is blocking out one or more of those opponents from under the basket, assisting the teammate in that way too. and that's just one that I found relatively easy to spot. And with all that, his unselfishness as a player is one more asset he brings to the team. IMHO 🙂

A comment I've heard is that Magic made easy passes look difficult and Bird made difficult passes look easy. It's an overstatement (no disrespect to Magic who was an AMAZING player and you should def check out his highlights) but there's truth to it. Bird could pass so quickly and almost casually. I've seen a lot of the common highlights multiple times and he still sometimes fakes me out -- wait, how did the ball get over there? You have to slow down the video sometimes to figure it out. As you mentioned, on defense it was so hard to tell what he was going to do you couldn't effectively react until it was too late. He telegraphed nothing--unless he decided to play mind games and start calling shots.

When you look at all the elite strengths Bird had as a player. Shooting, passing, rebounding, IQ, team play, clutch, heart, toughness, court vision is there another player ever that had all those strengths at that level? They're players that are better in some areas but are very lacking behind Bird in more areas. I think of Bird as the most complete player ever. MJ is the closest to be as complete as Bird to me but even he lags behind Bird in some areas like rebounding, passing, team play ect.
