Bird was about winning games not padding his own stats. He made his teammates play better.

Boston #34 was Dennis Awtrey (Center) in Larry's rookie year, 1979 (as well as 78). Rick Carlisle (Guard) from 84-87. 1989-94 - Kevin Gamble (Forward). 1984 is generally considered prime Boston Celtics year because it was the last year when Larry was healthy all season. He got injured sometime in '85 and got a little worse each year, but he was smart enough to still cook even the best (Michael Jordan) until he retired. That was when Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson, Larry Bird, and other all-time greats got together for the Olympics in what's known as the Dream Team. There's a good documentary about that team out there too.

When people compare Jokic or anybody playing today..I think…who did it that good first?..It was Bird..When any of these guys wins 3 straight MVP’s ..then they can start comparing..for 3 straight years…Bill Russell was the best ..for 3 straight years…Wilt dominated…he was the best..from 1984-1986 Bird was voted The Best..and those are the only 3…to ever do it…not MJ, KD, Westbrook Kareem! Or Magic…Curry or Kobe..

Larry Bird couldnt carry Pistol Pete Maravichs jock strap. Pistol Pete was an anomoly . If you've never heard of him check him out and remember he played in the 70s The Pistol change the game of baskeball . He was Magic before Magic , he was M J before MJ . He scored 63 pts against the New York Knicks with no 3 pt line. He was offered a contract by the Harlem Globetrotters. Its a must see for you. Listen to what the Legends say about the Pistol he would wreck todays game.
