I was dumbfounded to see a Parsi gentleman in Calicut. I had spent almost 5 years in Calicut, but now only I realize that there were Parsis in Calicut. Later during my 20 years stay at Mumbai I had come across lots of Parsis. They are only less than 1lakh in number today but their contribution to the economic growth of India is just spectacular. The Tata, Wadia, Godrej, Mistry, Poonawala, they are there in every sphere, why our first Field Marshal SFHJ Manekshaw, renowned musician Zubin Mehta the list is endless. As rightly said they have mingled well like sugar with milk in this country. Hats off to the "Bawajis" oops Parsis.

Dadabhai Naoraoji , firos shah mehta-freedom fighters were Parsi.Sam manekshaw-the indian army chief during india-pak wars was also Parsi.Once Persian Empire was one of the largest empires. Their religious scripture is very similar to Vedas. They were a breakaway of Aryans just before reaching India. There is a story of how king of Gujarat gave Refuge to parsis.very interesting.u can become a Zoroastrian but not a parsi by conversion just like Jews and hindus.
