JcherraX good deal! I stayed on DG for 6 months then jumped to JB Hunt Intermodal. Been at JB since last Aug. Had fun and learned a lot on DG. But I freakin love JBI. Home every night, it never slows down, and they treat us drivers really well. Be safe! Peace! ✌️

And be with my family. Thats awesome man im glad to know someone went thru the same as me i actually did it for 1 year then i helped with other accounts like schneider intermodal back then sprouts account and gmspo and in my opinion intermodal even tho it has ups and downs its better to be home everyday lol God bless brotha

You can’t stop anywhere. No quick snack stops. No quick coffee stops. You drive past only unless it’s a stop that can accommodate a truck. Schneider training is #1.

Thanks for sharing, I just applied for the driver position of 'Dedicated Truck Driver-Dollar General' of Schneider and await for phone interview tomorrow. It's so glad to find this video and you. I would like to know more about this position from you and appreciate it if you can help me. The most important thing that I would like to know how much you make every month when you service this account? and how many days of home time? I believed the distribution center of Dollar General is located in Lebec, CA. Where can I parking my owned vehicle? inside the distribution center?

David Song i averaged around $1100-1200/week once I really got going. I worked tues-sat most weeks, home on sun and mon. I had some $14-1500 weeks, but that meant pushing a full 70 hr week and only home 1 day. They have a big parking lot at the DC where you can park.

Is Schneider worth working for? How are trainers there? How much do they start pay off for new inexperienced drivers?

Schneider is a good company, especially for new drivers. Take a look at my other vids. I go through everything from the training to on the job. Pay depends on the account.

So I'm set to attend West Memphis, AR for my Schneider orientation. I already have my CDL and have about 4 years experience but the last time I drove a Tractor Trailer was in 2009. So about 10 years away from the industry. I do not doubt that I will be rusty I always considered myself a great driver. However, my weakness always been backing what if I get to orientation and really screw up on my backing? Will they send me home? You will probably find this funny but I back the best from the blind side but freight side I suck I'm really nervous. The account I will be on is the home run account which is 14 days out and 7 days home.
@thezentrucker

IlllI IlllI No need to worry, brother. The instructors are really good and they want you to succeed. They’ll work with you on the backing. As long as you’re there to learn and you show improvement, you’ll be fine. What I would do, in your situation, is request to be put in the new driver training instead of the experienced driver orientation. That way you’ll get a week with the instructors and you’ll get to work on backing for half a day each day of training. You’ll be fine, man! Just go slow, set up well, and GET OUT AND LOOK! 😁

@@thezentrucker What about the pre trip test? When I was trucking I use to carry a Pre Trip check list that had all the parts listed to look for the pages are laminated and I would go through everything and if it was good I would check it off with a dry erase marker. Would I be allowed to bring that for the pre trip test? I really suck at tests and my mind just freezes up. I find that its better to have a check list that way I'm covering myself and the company. Surely Schneider wouldn't mind if I used it?

Toni Malley Schneider is a good company. Best for dedicated regional. JB Hunt best for intermodal... I like local, but they also do semi-local/regional. I worked for Schneider till I had enough experience to get the JBI gig.

If you did not have a dedicated account with Schneider and just drove regular runs, would you have chosen Schneider? Im nearing my completion of trucking school and am looking at Schnieder hard because I keep hearing about their awesome training. Bummer they pay only zip-to-zip miles though 🙄. Congrats on your new position! Intermodal means youll be in and out of the docks all day, eh? Peace! ✌️

Erik Adame Schneider is great for new drivers. Best new driver training program in the industry. But their sweet spot is the dedicated regional accounts. The OTR side is not good for the company drivers. When freight is slow, like now, they do a LOT of waiting around for loads. Schneider favors the owner/ops on OTR side. If you’re set on OTR, I’d try to get on with Crete or one of the medium sized outfits that focus on OTR.

Oh wow! Thank you for the heads up on the Schneider OTR for company drivers! I was definitely leaning towards Schneider for company OTR. Guess I wont now. Do you know any other medium-sized OTR companies besides Crete? Crete wants 3 mo OTR experience. I watched some of your older vids recently. I also used to be in education! Middle and high school. Got out of the industry due to student behavior. Went into accounting, me n’ a computer all day, lol. Now Im tryin for me n’ a truck all day 😋 2 weeks of truck school left! Thank you Sir!

Erik Adame good deal! You’re gonna love trucking. Just be patient and keep learning and you’ll be good. Honestly, if it was me, I’d actually start out with Schneider just because their new driver training is SO much better than every other company. It’s only 2 about weeks and pretty intensive. The instructors are great and very thorough. Get your 6 months in, knowing that the pay is not gonna be great and you may have some weeks when freight’s a little slow. Once you have 6 months under your belt, you can start looking around to see what opportunities are out there that are a better fit for your long term goals. That 1st 6 months is really important in learning the ropes and Schneider is a good company to help you do that.

Hey hey! Sounds good! Im fine with low pay for a while in exchange for awesome training. Im now at a 2nd truck school because my first school had 11-14 students with only two instructors, we almost never went driving, and it took forever to get a turn in 1 of 2 trucks (sometimes we only had 1 truck, lol). This new school is better thankfully, but learning on a 13 speed manual transmission is kickin my butt, lol. Did you have to train on a manual at Swift or Schneider? I look forward to the 6 month mark! I have some employers that want me to call them at the 3 month mark! Thank you Sir! I hope the new position is going well!

Intermodal means multiple modes of transport. In trucking it means rail to road or road to rail. We pick up containers from the rail yard and deliver to warehouse or pick up from warehouse and drop at the rail yard.
