And all these fantastic movies came out and they were Original Stories not sequels or based on a comic book just great writing like Gremlins, Back to the Future, The Last Starfighter, Honey I Shrunk the Kids, Etc... I wish they could make Blockbusters nowadays that weren't based on something else something new and original I'm one of the few people who liked Jupiter Ascending for that reason haha yes it was but at least it was original

Though I'm skeptical about the industry's abilities currently, I would like a sequel with a much older and battle-hardened Alex leading the new Starfighter Legion, perhaps with a sub-plot of a maturing Earth seeking entry into the Star League. Or maybe it shouldn't be a sequel at all, but a TV series.

PeterPunkass Apparently the writer who created the original is no longer interested in having a sequel made, nor a remake. In many ways this is good, because frankly the original would lose it's uniqueness if a subpar sequel or remake was done. However, the story just screams sequel by the way it ended. Lots of storytelling possibilities are there for a good sequel.
@JLC-rm9bu
9 жыл бұрын
alucard624 A sequel to the 1984 film would be very difficult to do today. Three decades have passed since then and all the actors still living are 30 years older. Both Robert Preston and Dan O'Herlihy are now deceased. This film had actually been planned to be the first in a trilogy- but its underperformance kept that from happening. Its popularity over the years is what has made the filmmakers decide to attempt bringing it back. The only thing keeping that from happening right now are some issues with the film rights that have not yet been resolved.
