I can see why people, especially visual artist would care because that one less job for them to work on but like I mentioned in the video, that wasn’t fully the case with this film.

^ and this is the problem. The AI argument is a legitimate and important one, but this was 3 still frame images that didn't sound like they replaced anybody's job. I read the original Letterboxd post and felt like they were just picking on the wrong movie to support their argument. This is a strong independent horror film that shouldn't suffer loss of viewers because one person wanted to single it out to set a big example. That's just a damn shame.

I'm a big fan of period pieces - so getting to see a "grainy" aesthetic in a horror film was a breath of fresh air. Jack Delroy as a character is complex and endearing, I loved watching how he shifted psychologically throughout. The AI usage did disappoint, however, knowing that the artists did have a hand in providing their own revisions to the generated images made me feel somewhat better about it. I appreciated the use of practical effects, especially since they make everything all the more sudden and terrifying. The first act may "feel" slow, but it's worth holding on. Once the first act is up, you're in for a wild ride. I loved this, me and my wife saw it opening night. It's one of our new favourites.

It have me the feeling I felt when I saw hereditary where the sister was decapitated when the brother was driving fast. I wanted to throw up basically. If you know you know….

I was so excited and great performances all around. A lot to like, but also missed overall. Wow they left so much to have fun with and worse they made it depressing at the end which is not very rewatchable imo. Raimi and Campbell still hold the trophy imho. So so so much wasted in this idea imo. Could have been a fun blood bath but they go for cancer and regret? 🤦 Maybe some want that but I'm watching film for escapism when it's super natural or fantasy..

Just saw this in theaters and the fact that I couldn't change the channel freaked me out. Let me say that grew up with 3 TV channels. So, there would have been nothing else to watch and being "stuck" watching the show added to the creepy factor. Younger audiences used to streaming may not understand. By the way, the art design and retro TV score should win an award. Regarding using AI, you gotta just come clean about using it because it's not braodly accepted by many who enjoy films, and best practice is to not use it at all. Stay creative on your own merit.

These fake internet art warriors crying about AI.....artist all my life....any and all artists know....this shit helps a lot! Yes the models are trained on ppls artwork/styles.....and....part of art and illustration and design has always been reference and copying existing models/pieces. Art creates art. AI is effecting everything, but crying about movie intro titles and snippets is the dumbest thing I've ever heard. Even the Secret Invasion "outrage" was nonsense. AI is here for video games, food, typing, searching, research, art, film, videos, social media, youtube, medicine, etc....get over it. OH MY GOD U USED A CALCULATOR!!! WHAT ABOUT ALL THE MATHMATICIANS! 🤣🤣🤣

Honestly I think the use of a.i. was more of an afterthought error. They had been working on this movie for at least 7 years and they used it to cut corners time wise. I doubt they ever do it again but you're talking about maybe 1k in lost artist revenue for those images. Not right but not catastrophic for an indie with a very small budget.
