Good to see you back Brother! Those are some nice looking beaver. When I was young I trapped a lot of beaver under the ice but I'm not young anymore. Under the ice is a lot of work unless you know where the runs are. Sometimes in the fall before freeze up I would go and mark the runs by driving a dry pole into the mud on each side of the run. Sure makes it easy come winter.

How thick is that ice? Looks a little spooky to me! The reason I made a shoulder holster for my 22, is falling through beaver ponds. I've only done a little beaver trapping through the ice. Mainly with snares. It's a lot of work, but it is kind of fun. It's weird snaring them like that. You don't always catch them around the neck. Leg or even tail catches are pretty common. I don't recall ever catching any under the ice with a conibear, but I had good luck with the snares and a foot trap wired to a leaning pole with aspen sticks as bait.

You need to weld a loop on the end of your bar so you can put a rope or chain on. Someday if you don't your bar will slide out of your frozen gloves and disappear down the hole.

@Montana wolf Trapper I have to way to many times myself, that's probably why I noticed it . I seen 330 maniac on utube use a small wire on the coil of the spring to hold the safety and I started doing it so I wouldn't forget the safeties on.
