Lateralus essentially refers to the concept of lateral thinking, i.e. re-orienting and recontextualizing one’s perspective to see things in a new light. You two should do the song Descending from their most recent album next. Pausing throughout is awesome, but it’d be great if you played the whole song in the reaction. Anyway, I really enjoyed the reaction, thanks you two!

It’s based off of the Fibonacci sequence. One then one plus one equals two then 1+2 equals three then 2+3 = 5 and so on 813 they do everything based off of this from the moment that the first lyric hits to the syllables he uses everything and it’s, one of the top five songs probably ever written

Tool Army checking in! Good video guys, one BIG suggestion, Tool fans love the reaction, but if you want us to watch the videos we need to hear the whole song.(with pausing of course) Amazing job picking up on the lyrics. Hope to see more videos. If you truly want your mind blown then react to Nightwish "Ghost Love Score " live from Wakken 2013 led by the Valkyrie Floor Jansen. They have a huge Army of fans like Tool.

Few suggestions. Play the song through don't skip forward because Tool fans want to hear the whole song. Of course stopping to comment occasionally is expected. I realize Tool has crazy time signatures and polyrhythms, and sometimes Maynard's vocals are purposely lower. I can't stress enough DO NOT WATCH THE OFFICIAL VIDEOS. Too distracting. Audio is best. If you want the lyrics just pull them up. Yes there's chaos, it puts me in mind of jazz. Not that they sound like jazz (don't come for me Tool army) it's just similar in the sense that everyone sounds like they're playing a different song but it all comes together masterfully. Try The Pot, 46&2, or Right In Two. Those are good ones to ease into Tool with.

Danny and Neil Peart from Rush are my two top drummers of all time. I'm not that into Rush but I appreciate the music. Danny is my favorite of all time and I'm impressed to see you make that connection.

Tool is a rabbit hole that doesn't disappoint. 😊 They've got a ton of good music - I would suggest 46 and 2, The Pot and The Grudge. Skip their videos but do pull up lyrics. Oh and don't miss the live drum cam of Pneuma. Their drummer Danny Carey will blow your mind.

This song is heavily woven with the Fibonacci sequence. They also repeat the first section again before moving along. They use math but in a way that FEELS natural.

You're not wrong at all about Rush and Tool. Tool has also been called the Pink Floyd of the 90s, for their deep and thought provoking lyrics, and the emotional emphasis they're able to create.

To add to the fathers Rush suggestion to young folks (I was born in the 90s, but.... whatever), start out with 'Tom Sawyer'. It's probably their most widely known song and if you like Tool -- you'll definitely like that song.

Tool army here. I wasn't going to watch this reaction but decided to give it a try. I'm so glad I did. I love the dynamic between father and son. You guys are adorable and weird in the best way possible. Please do more Tool. It would be so dope if you reacted to their full discography in order - you'd so how theu evolved. Tool is an immaculate band; there's no one like them. 🌀 P.S. DO NOT SKIP THE SONG.. this is torture for Tool fans. It's not enough, we need more! ( You'll get that later).

I would imagine Chevelle would appreciate being compared to Tool; it's been often said that they seemed to be inspired by Tool, who were releasing music several years prior to Chevelle. Love both bands, though.

This song is meant to be played with Intension and Triad. They're called The Holy Trinity. That's why it sounds like it starts in the middle of the song and ends abruptly.

Like many others are saying -- don't break up the songs by skipping forward in editing. Pause and commentate to break up the song for automated copyright purposes and add commentary to make it transformative therefore being Fair Use, but do not cut out parts of the song or skip through it. People won't respond too well to that lol.

There’s a pretty good video that breaks down the math in this song here on KZitem, I believe it’s called “the mathematics of lateralus” . P.S. invest in some quality headphones . Bands like tool are very intricate , they’re musician musicians . Different instruments and vocals are purposely turned up/ down and sometimes are barely noticeable or sometimes even completely inaudible through speakers. Hope to see you guys grow! The tool army is an actual thing btw 😂 you react to tool, they will come. Also dad nailed it on the head with that one. Tool is often referred to as the spiritual successor to Rush. Check out Dream Theatre if you Iike prog rock 🤙🤙 Show him spirit of the radio for a time change parallel . Also… Test for Echo is basically the same groove as Lateralus 🤙🤙

Like Rush, tool is a progressive rock/metal band, but I would say Tool is more of a combination of Pink Floyd, and Led Zeppelin. Rush is great, but style wise different. Tool is more atmospheric, like Pink Floyd. Led Zeppelin's drive, and willingness to break from conformity is clearly an influence on Tool. IMO

Danny Carey is one of the greatest polyrhythmic drummers of all-time and very closely tied with his icon, Neil Peart. As cheesy as it may sound, Tool is more of an experience than a band. Continue down the rabbit hole and Spiral Out...

I've seen people make those types of comparisons. Some said Tool is the Pink Floyd of their generation. Pausing to make comments is fine, of course. But if you don't play the whole song, people can't understand specifically what you are reacting to. This video was mostly commentary with very little of the song.
