The idea that the Father is God, the Son is God, the Spirit is God, the Father is not the Spirit, the Father is not the Son, and the Spirit is not the Son is biblical. As to the specifics of how you make sense of that, the Bible is mostly silent. These are two attempts to make sense of what the Bible tells us. In my opinion, we can’t be sure which is right, but there are plenty of smart, faithful people who feel strongly on both sides.

@@VerseVersusVerse Thank you for your reply. Tell me then if you could, how does one integrate many texts that indicate otherwise? Such as psalm 51:11.

I’m not sure how psalm 51:11 disagrees with anything from my comment - can you elaborate?

@@VerseVersusVerse 'Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me.' You say that the Spirit is NOT the Father. This passage among many, instructs us that the Spirit OF God is his very presence. Thereby the Spirit IS the Father. It is the same person. This is also validated in that the spirit of man is likewise the same as the person of the man. Our Bible teaches us that the spirit of man is his heart/mind/ emotions of the man. [ can provide many verses] Just as our heavenly Father...his spirit is analogous. It is an extension of his person. The essential difference between God's Spirit and man's spirit?... is that God's Spirit is omnipresent. 1 Cor 2:11 Amen?

@@canadiancontrarian3668 not at all my friend! The very fact that you call it the “Spirit of God” shows an awareness to separate Spirit and God (in this case, presumably referring to the Father as God, though both the Spirit and the Father are God). See, for example, Mark 1:9-11, Matthew 3:16-17, Luke 3:21-22, John 1:32-34, John 15:26, and Matthew 28:19 for a few passages that make it clear that the Spirit is not the Father.
