Before the colonization of the soon called "Las Islas Filipinas", the islands were composed of different kingdoms with their own rajahs or kings, beliefs/religion, and culture. But after the colonization, the spaniards conquered the islands one by one, build churches and share their culture. Indeed the colonizers, did hurt my countrymen but we "Filipinos" cannot deny that they are the one who create our country and I might be hated by my countrymen by saying this but Im lowkey grateful that they colonize the islands and made my country which is my home.

100% accurate! perfect example of that is Lapu-Lapu and Rajah Humabon. Rajah Humabon wanted to colonize Lapu-Lapu but Lapu-Lapu kept on resisting. They were just neighbors like how the Philippines is neighbors with Indonesia now. Sure Lapu-Lapu and Rajah Humabon are both Austronesians but they were not in the same tribe. Just like Indonesia and the Philippines are not the same country. Filipinos and Indonesians are both Austronesians but overall, we are not the same people. Same with Native Americans like there are Cherokee and Navajo and other groups like sure, they are all Native Americans but they are not the same people and it's wrong to think that they all share the same culture and languages and practices. Of course there are going to be similarities since they are neighbors but overall, they are not the same people.

✌🏼😅🇵🇭 "Maharlika" is a popularized word, name or term way back around and more or less the 1970s to 1980s, and during those decades and then later on, it had and carried the popular meaning of and as a Tagalog and Pilipino and then Filipino word or translation for the English words, terms and phrases such as "noble(s)", "aristocrat(s)", "royal/royalty/royal family/royal clan/royal class/royal nobility/royal aristocrat(s)", "ruling family/ruling clan/ruling class/ruling nobility/ruling aristocrat(s)" or "royal blood/royal-blooded/royal-blooded family/royal-blooded clan/royal-blooded class/royal-blooded nobility/royal-blooded aristocrat(s)" which was actually restricted to the "Maginoo" class of and in the ancient Tagalog ethnolinguistic/ethnic and linguistic regions and society/ies, but it originally and historically mean, according to Filipino and Philippine historians, among others, as the middle or common and free warrior/martial or military-oriented class or freed slave warrior/martial or military-oriented class of the Tagalog ethnolinguistic/ethnic and linguistic regions and society/ies in Central and Southern Luzon Island only.

@@Akilraham1469 Yeah, I see nothing wrong with the meaning of Maharlika in its root form here. Uzbekistan while usually refer to the Uzbek people, literally mean "Land of the Free people" from linguistics perspective. "Republic of Common People" sounds good enough, besides popular mainstream in modern Philippines gave its a new meaning based on myth of Maharlika Kingdom, so it probably doesn't sound cringy to local Filipino. The only problem is the hassle and cost to renamed and update various documents and government record and the amendment of the constitution.

✌🏼😅🇵🇭 To fully or completely change the name of a country, accordingly, such as the Philippines' official name/s, its international English name, its other international names in the other languages of the world and of its national, regional and local names in the languages of and from the Philippines, is accordingly, excessively expensive, time-consuming, challenging and needs a lot of agreements, consensuses, willingness, followerships, participations, among others and the likes, from the public, the masses or all, the whole or the entire Filipino population in and out if the country. It's not as easy like the full or complete change of the local, regional, common, familiar and official name/s, alphabetical and numerical designation/s, regional designation/s, abbreviation/s and/or acronym/s of a local government unit in the Philippines such as a barangay, town or municipality, city, province or an administrative or autonomous region, because fully or completely changing the name of the Philippines like its official name/s, its international English name and its other international names in the other languages of the world is not just and will not just affect the local, regional and national levels but the international level too. Also, fully or completely changing the name of a country like the Philippines doesn't instantly, fully or completely and easily happen in just a month, a year or even a decade but more than that or until everyone in the country and even in the whole world fully or completely agrees, accepts, and uses the name change or the changed name of its official name/s, international English name among English speakers and users, names in their own other languages of the world among other non-English speakers and users and in the national, regional and local names in their own languages in and from the Philippines among us Filipinos. For some examples, the Czech government approved "Czechia" as the official short name in 2016. It has been listed by the UN and is used by other organizations such as the EU, the CIA and Google Maps, but the long or longer name "Czech Republic" is still widely known and used elsewhere around the English-speaking and English-using world, including the Philippines. Similarly, this is also true with the Republic of Türkiye with "Türkiye" vs "Turkey", the Republic of Côte d'Ivoire with "Côte d'Ivoire" vs "Ivory Coast", the Republic of Cabo Verde with "Cabo Verde" vs "Cape Verde", and even with the ongoing confusions among the names of The Netherlands with "Netherlands" vs "Holland", the United States of America with "USA/U.S.A/US/U.S." vs "United States" vs "America" vs "EEUU/Estados Unidos" in both the English and Spanish languages, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland with "United Kingdom/UK/U.K." vs "Great Britain/Britain/Britania/Britannia" vs "England/Inglaterra" in both the English and Spanish languages and lastly, the Republic of the Union of Myanmar with "Myanmar" vs "Burma", among others. It's not impossible, but then there's a lot of other important and significant factors such as linguistic or language-related, toponymic or relate to the name of a/the place, exonym vs endonym, ethnic or ethnolinguistic, indigenous or native, national, state, government or governmental, political, social, societal, cultural, historical, financial, economic, local, regional and international factors, among others, needed to be considered, and which all can influence the change or the continuation of the name/s "Philippines/Pilipinas/Pilipínas/Filipinas/Filipínas, etc.".

@Mr sympatico ✌🏼😅🇵🇭 "The Maharlika (meaning freeman or freedman) were the feudal warrior class in ancient Tagalog society in Luzon, the Philippines. The Spanish translated the name as Hidalgos (or libres).[1] They belonged to the lower nobility class similar to the Timawa of the Visayan people. In modern Filipino, however, the word referred to aristocrats or to royal nobility,[2] which was actually restricted to the hereditary Maginoo class.[3]" "The term maharlika is a loanword from Sanskrit maharddhika (महर्द्धिक), a title meaning "man of wealth, knowledge, or ability". Contrary to modern definitions, it did not refer to the ruling class, but rather to a warrior class (which were minor nobility) of the Tagalog people, directly equivalent to Visayan timawa. Like timawa, the term also has connotations of "freeman" or "freed slave" in both Filipino and Malay languages.[1][8]" "In some Indo-Malayan languages, as well as the languages of the Muslim areas of the Philippines, the cognates mardika, merdeka, merdeheka, and maradika mean "freedom" or "freemen" (as opposed to servitude).[9] The Malay term mandulika, also meant "governor".[6]" "The Merdicas (also spelled Mardicas or Mardikas), whose name comes from the same etymon, were also the Catholic native inhabitants of the islands of Ambon, Ternate, and Tidore of the Moluccas in modern-day Indonesia, converted during the Portuguese and Spanish occupation of the islands by Jesuit missionaries. Most were enslaved or expelled to Batavia (modern Jakarta) and Java when the Dutch Empire conquered Ambon in 1605. The remaining Catholic natives in Ternate and Tidore were resettled by the Spanish in the communities of Ternate and Tanza, Cavite, Manila in 1663 when the Spanish evacuated the islands under threat of invasion by the Dutch-allied Muslim sultanates.[9]" "The name of the Mardijker people of Batavia also comes from the same etymon, and referred to freed slaves and servants under Dutch rule who were composed largely of Portuguese-speaking Catholic Goans, Moluccan Merdicas, and Filipinos (the Papangers) captured by Moro raiders.[10][11]" References: en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maharlika [1] Scott, William Henry (1992). For me it is much better to change our country name to Malayana. This name has double meaning actually first: is the land of Malay (which is Malaysia's meaning as well) second: Malayana (Already freed or Already gained independence)
