Those are NOT the largest, The Komatsu D575 was the largest, now discontinued. The Cat D11R is now the largest productive dozer built. These two Cats are D9R models.

From what I understand they are not planning on paving anything just yet. The goal for now it just to get it clear so you can drive on top of it. Cut down the high spots and fill in the holes.

with the lava cooled down its vasically just back into rock form so the wear wont really be far above what they normally experience,, sand is the worst for these machines
