If the washing machine does not heat the water, or even makes you jump the differential, the most likely cause of this failure is resistance. Overall is located in the bottom of the drum. Some washers wear resistance for the front. Others wear resistance for the back, as is my case. Here I will explain how it is checked and replaced:
1: Disconnect the washer machine from the electric current
2: We took the back cover of the washing machine (if our washing machine leads the resistance below, we should take full front).
3: We take the belt to have more gap to work.
4: We disconnect the resistor terminals.
5: With the help of a multimeter (resistance [Ω]), we have to measure the resistance between the two terminals. It must give a value between 25 Ω and 30 Ω .
6: We check if there shorts between one terminal and ground, it can't give resistance. If not give us these values, it would be spoiled and we would have to change.
7: To change, we need to loosen the center screw and push it inside.
8: Use a screwdriver to do some leverage to take the resistance.
9: We have to put the new resistance, making sure it fits on the hitch of thermostat and drum, and push it till it stops.
10: We need to install the screw resistance.
11: Connecting the terminals, put the belt and the washer lid.
It would also be necessary to check the temperature sensor and the safety thermostat. This washing machine (Fagor) takes just under resistance, terminals on the right are the safety thermostat (it has to give a value of 0Ω or continuity), the two on the left are from the temperature sensor (depending model of the washing machine, you must provide a value or another, this particular has to give between 80 and 100 kΩ).
