She started struggling on that handstand on the high bar at 0:13. She's a delightful young gymnast but that routine was far too advanced for her. Thank God she wasn't seriously hurt, she could have easily broken her neck.

Wow that was scary! I could tell that she must have been tired because of all the energy she expended on the low bar, but I didn't expect her to fly off her dismount. Was she trying to attempt a double layout? I would rather she ended a fly away dismount, instead.

You know, from her first giant on the high bar when she stops in rotation at the top of the bar - she has a quick moment where it looks like she is about to let go of her form and then straightens her arms back up and carries on - I felt like that was a big tell of what’s to come, like she did not have the strength to pull off the whole routine. So when she transitioned to the low bar ; all her moves looked clean (her body was always straight and her toes were pointed), but I thought there was NO WAY she was making it back up to the high bar. There’s NO POWER left in that body ! I guess she had enough to get that one last push back to the high bar but that was that. 😢 All that hard work getting ready for this competition to have it end like that 😮 I hope she isn’t injured bad❤

2 giants before the last, she has some sort of tap, but the one prior, she comes down with none. Is that normal? There was nothing the coach could have done, but his body language on the dismount tells me that she has had issues with the dismount before. I don't like crashes, and when she got through the set, I though, great, it's on the dismount. Women recover from crashes, when guys wouldn't (due to weight and flexibility). I wonder if this makes for a greater acceptance of risk with women. Beam is the worst, where the gymnast will land on her head, get up and walk away with a coach; whereas, a coach would tell a guy to stay down, until help arrives.

She looked like she was feeling sick. Idk if nerves, water/electrolyte imbalance, not enough food or a virus, but those bobbles look like when you have the numbers & muscle memory but something is wrong metabolically with nerve signaling.

Typically gymnasts are taught to do a fly away dismount when they are exhausted on bars. She is young, and still learning how to make decisions in the moment.

How much do these young gymnastics have to be pushed? Always expected to do more and better than previous generations of gymnastics. It's scary to watch gymnastics with bandages wrapped around their wrists and ankles. I knew a woman in her early 40s at the time, who had serious back pain because when she was a teenager and young adult, she was a gymnast. And all the training and competition did serious damage to her back and neck. I hope this young girl learns to just enjoy the sport and have fun, without pushing herself with intense training and competition. Gymnastics needs to be more like dance, and just be fun.

What I never understand is how parents see something like this and let their child go back to the gym. Like, seriously, as a parent, you know there is life after gymnastics. If you saw your son or daughter very nearly end up in a wheelchair for life, how could you just brush that off and let them go back to doing the activity that almost took everything from them? (Also, note to self, find a way to get youtube to stop recommending gymnastics to me, I regularly feel so guilty to be supporting this sport when it leads to so many injuries, so many live with pain from HS age on)
