In this episode we read Lavina Eastlick's account of the Sioux massacre in Lake Shetek, Minnesota in 1862. This was part of a broader outbreak in Minnesota where an estimated 800 men, women, and children were killed.
Fanny Kelly would later meet a woman who had been captured during these 1862 attacks, and was still held prisoner in 1864.
